Base pay range

$49,500.00/yr - $71,500.00/yr

A Washington, D.C. based government contracting firm is seeking an internal Sr. Human Resources Specialist to manage the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department. Responsibilities include onboarding/offboarding, administering pay, benefits, and leave, enforcing company policies, processing payroll, and maintaining employee records.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments, including safety, anti-harassment, licensure, and certifications.
  2. Implement new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  3. Administer human resource programs related to compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary actions, disputes, investigations, performance management, morale, occupational health and safety, and training.
  4. Handle employment inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex or sensitive issues to appropriate staff.
  5. Maintain compliance with employment laws and regulations at federal, state, and local levels, and review policies accordingly.
  6. Stay updated on HR trends, best practices, legal changes, and new technologies.
  7. Process payroll information, including wages, bonuses, deductions, taxes, and employee data in payroll systems.
  8. Ensure accurate processing of payroll deductions and record federal and state payroll tax deposits.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
