Job summary

Central Transport in Nashville, TN is seeking a shift supervisor to oversee hub operations in a busy LTL facility. This role guides loading, forklift traffic, and palletized freight sorting to meet production schedules.

You will lead up to 30 local drivers and dock staff, apply independent judgment to loads, ensure safe trailer loading, and uphold DOT/OSHA safety standards while delivering excellent service.

Qualifications

• Experience in transportation, cross docking, or shipping and receiving.
• Familiar with customs and cross-border transportation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee hub operations within an LTL freight facility for your designated section of the dock.
• Manage loading, forklift traffic, and palletized freight sorting to meet production schedules.
• Lead up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel.
• Use independent judgment to build loads based on labor and freight availability.
• Monitor cube and weight to ensure proper trailer loading.
• Provide leadership to a team of drivers, dock workers and dock hands.
• Ensure safety and DOT/OSHA compliance across operations.

Shift: 9:00pm - 7:00am, M-F (Hub Shift) Salary: Up to $75,000 + quarterly bonus (10%) LOCATION 2464 Couchville Pike, Nashville, TN 37217

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in a transportation, cross docking, or shipping and receiving environment (preferably within the LTL industry)
• Familiar with customs and cross-border transportation
• Strong leadership qualities
• Desire to surround customer with excellence in service
• High aptitude for technology
• The ability to multi-task while being detail oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• An Associates or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred but not required

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee hub operations within an LTL freight facility for your designated section of the dock.
• This includes the process of loading, managing forklift traffic, and overseeing proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to achieve a designated production schedule.
• Utilizing your independent judgement to build loads based on available labor and freight levels.
• Ensure proper load of carriers by monitoring the cube and weight of trailers
• Provide leadership and accountability to a team of drivers, dock workers and dock hand.
• Monitor dock production, ensuring facility Key Performance Indicator goals are met and/or exceeded.Monitor hours and overtime.
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards.
• Ensure company operational model compliance.
• Support a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers
