Job summary

StaffCo of Brooklyn is seeking a Sr HR Generalist to support compensation management and performance management across multiple locations in Suffolk County, NY.

The role requires strong analytical skills, experience with HR technology, and the ability to navigate a complex multi-site healthcare environment while partnering with leaders and union resources.

Travel between sites may be required during peak cycles; open enrollment, budgeting, and labor negotiations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; 4 years HR experience in lieu.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience focusing on compensation and labor relations.
  • Healthcare or multi-entity environment experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of NYS Pay Transparency Law and other employment regulations.
  • Proficiency with compensation tools such as Comp Analyst.
  • Strong Excel data management and reporting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with union contract administration or collective bargaining preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Structures, maintains, and improves the compensation program across entities with equity and external competitiveness.
  • Performs market research using paid and public salary sources, ensuring compliance with NY Pay Transparency Law.
  • Develops compensation posting ranges and partners with leadership to apply ranges when advertising roles.
  • Manages the Comp Analyst platform, data integrity, job description uploads, and benchmarking workflows.
  • Reviews and aligns current pay ranges; makes recommendations for adjustments.
  • Prepares compensation analyses for budget cycles, market adjustments, and new position requests.
  • Ensures compliance with wage and hour regulations at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Conducts job analysis and creates standardized job descriptions reflecting responsibilities and qualifications.
  • Categorizes and groups comparable positions across the system.
  • Maintains job descriptions for all roles on an ongoing basis.
  • Facilitates Performance Improvement Plans and assists managers with documentation for underperforming employees.
  • Guides leaders to align employee goals with the organization’s mission and vision; trains supervisors on feedback delivery.
  • Assists with special projects as needed; performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Sr HR Generalist plays a key role in supporting the Human Resources departments across three locations, with a primary focus on compensation management and performance management. This position serves both union and non‑union employee populations. The ideal candidate brings a strong analytical foundation, comfort with HR technology platforms, and the ability to navigate the nuances of a complex, multi‑site healthcare environment.

Additional Information

This position may support multiple locations and require occasional travel between sites in Suffolk County, NY. Some flexibility in scheduling may be needed during peak HR cycles such as open enrollment, budget planning, or labor negotiations.

Responsibilities
Compensation & Market Analysis
  • Structures, maintains, and continuously improves the organization’s compensation program across all entities, ensuring internal equity and external competitiveness.
  • Conducts ongoing market research using paid compensation survey data and publicly available salary sources, including compliance monitoring under NYS Pay Transparency Law.
  • Develops and maintains compensation posting ranges for all roles; partners with leadership and hiring managers to apply ranges consistently when advertising new positions.
  • Manages the Comp Analyst platform, including data integrity, job description uploads, and benchmarking workflows.
  • Reviews, assesses and makes recommendations to align current pay ranges.
  • Prepares compensation analyses and recommendations to support leadership decision‑making during budget cycles, market adjustments, and new position requests.
  • Ensures compensation practices remain compliant with applicable federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations.
Performance Management
  • Conducts job analysis and creates standardized job descriptions to reflect current responsibilities and qualifications.
  • Categorizes and groups comparable positions across the system.
  • Maintains and updates job descriptions across all roles on an ongoing basis.
  • Facilitates Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and assists managers with documentation for underperforming employees.
  • Partners with Department Leaders to ensure individual employee goals align with the organization’s mission and vision.
  • Provides guidance and training to supervisors on delivering constructive feedback for continuous improvement of culture.
  • Assists with special projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; PHR, SPHR, or SHRM‑CP/SCP preferred. In lieu of a degree, 4 years of HR experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, with a demonstrated focus on compensation and labor relations.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare or multi‑entity environment strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of NYS Pay Transparency Law and other applicable employment regulations.
  • Proficiency with compensation tools (e.g., Comp Analyst).
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel for data management and reporting.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience supporting or participating in union contract administration and/or collective bargaining preferred.
