Job description

Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator with expertise in medical and healthcare construction to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in estimating costs for hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities, ensuring competitive and accurate bids. This role requires strong analytical skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to collaborate with project managers and clients.

Duties and Responsibilities

Business Unit Management

  1. Initiates new business opportunities with current client portfolio and new business development with client.
  2. Maintains Business Unit customer relationship management tool in Quickbase.
  3. Updates project status and completion dates in database weekly.
  4. Works with Accounts Receivable to monitor Business Unit weekly/monthly billings and collections.
  5. Reviews monthly financial and operational performance of the Business Unit and completes monthly business unit reports for review with management.
  6. Leads team in a thoughtful and motivating manner.
  7. Sets and leads by example. Builds Business Unit team from Project Manager down.
  8. Attends all mandatory company or client meetings.
  9. Holds weekly calls with team.
  10. Prepares and delivers weekly operational reports.
  11. Works with Marketing Manager to maintain budget for business unit.

Sales/Marketing

  1. Seeks opportunities from existing clients.
  2. Updates customer and client communication in database.
  3. Attends business unit specific trade shows and events.
  4. Provides quarterly project highlights with photos and project summary to marketing for promotion on company website.

Project Management

  1. Creates new projects in QuickBase by defining the scope of the project and estimating the proper amount of labor, material, and travel costs to successfully deliver company services for the project while maintaining set profit margins for the Business Unit.
  2. Maintains communication with staff and/or vendors/subcontractors to provide project information to ensure they fully understand the scope of work, along with the necessary tools/equipment/materials to complete the project.
  3. Generates and manages all project related change orders with Director level oversight.
  4. Oversees the review and approval of all timecards and expenses for each business unit project in database.
  5. Reviews project scope of work in tandem with customer-specific project completion process to ensure that all necessary inspection records and documentation has been completed by the field specialist and uploaded into database.
  6. Manages schedule and project to budget to ensure both are effectively maintained.
  7. Ensures project quality is maintained to meet or exceed company standards.
  8. Manages project close-out to ensure timely processing of invoices in accordance with guidelines.
  9. Reviews and manages each project’s contract documents, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
  10. Procures and manages any vendors/subcontractors for each project when in-house resources are not available.
  11. Obtains any other project and/or client-required certifications as requested.

Scheduling

  1. Generates, manages, and schedules all project schedule requests through database.
  2. Works with interdepartmental teams to correctly update employee skill sets and confirm correct resources are scheduled for each project.
  3. Alerts the Operations team of upcoming projects that may affect weekend, holiday, vacation request or any other scheduling function in advance prior to project start or resource request.

Resources

  1. Assists Human Resources with employee retention providing effective and regular communication with your team of employees.
  2. Works with Human Resources, Operations, and Senior Management to identify Business Unit resource planning.

Qualifications & Experience

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  2. Experience: Minimum 7-10 years of experience in construction estimating, with at least 5 years in medical/healthcare projects.
  3. Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam).
  4. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
  5. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  6. Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  7. Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines effectively.

Travel Requirement:

  1. 25% travel required for site visits and/or travel.

Compensation:

  1. $100,000.00 - $150,000.00.
  2. Annual commission.
