Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator with expertise in medical and healthcare construction to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in estimating costs for hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities, ensuring competitive and accurate bids. This role requires strong analytical skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to collaborate with project managers and clients.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Business Unit Management
- Initiates new business opportunities with current client portfolio and new business development with clients
- Maintains Business Unit customer relationship management tool in Quickbase
- Updates project status and completion dates in database weekly
- Works with Accounts Receivable to monitor Business Unit weekly/monthly billings and collections
- Reviews monthly financial and operational performance of the Business Unit and completes monthly business unit reports for review with management
- Leads team in a thoughtful and motivating manner
- Sets and leads by example. Builds Business Unit team from Project Manager down
- Attends all mandatory company or client meetings
- Holds weekly calls with team
- Prepares and delivers weekly operational reports
- Works with Marketing Manager to maintain budget for business unit
Sales/Marketing
- Seeks opportunities from existing clients
- Updates customer and client communication in database
- Attends business unit specific trade shows and events
- Provides quarterly project highlights with photos and project summaries to marketing for promotion on the company website
Project Management
- Creates new projects in QuickBase by defining the scope and estimating labor, material, and travel costs to deliver services while maintaining profit margins
- Maintains communication with staff and vendors/subcontractors to ensure understanding of project scope and requirements
- Generates and manages all project-related change orders with Director oversight
- Oversees review and approval of all timecards and expenses for each project in database
- Reviews project scope of work and ensures completion of inspection records and documentation
- Manages schedule and project to budget effectively
- Ensures project quality standards are met or exceeded
- Manages project close-out and timely invoice processing
- Reviews and manages contract documents, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
- Procures and manages vendors/subcontractors when in-house resources are unavailable
- Obtains necessary certifications as required by clients or projects
Scheduling
- Generates, manages, and schedules all project requests
- Coordinates with teams to update employee skill sets and resource scheduling
- Alerts Operations of upcoming projects affecting scheduling
Resources
- Assists HR with employee retention and communication
- Collaborates with HR, Operations, and Senior Management for resource planning
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience: 7-10 years in construction estimating, with at least 5 years in healthcare projects
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam)
- Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines
Travel Requirement
- 25% travel for site visits and travel
- Hybrid office environment
Compensation
- $100,000 - $150,000 annually
