We're seeking a hands-on Senior Hardware Design Engineer to help bring the next generation of connected, security-focused electronic products to life. This is an opportunity to take ownership of PCBA design, build internal prototyping capabilities, and help shape a reusable hardware platform for a growing family of products.
You'll work closely with engineering, quality, and manufacturing, taking designs from schematic and circuit development through prototyping, testing, certification, and production. You'll also have the opportunity to expand your embedded firmware skills and become a key technical resource across both hardware and firmware.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
- Own the design process: Take PCBA designs from initial concept through validation, certification, and new product introduction.
- Build something meaningful: Establish in-house prototyping and design-iteration capabilities to accelerate development and improve product performance.
- Make a broader impact: Help develop a reusable hardware architecture that supports a growing pipeline of new products.
- Expand your technical expertise: Work across circuit design, embedded firmware, RF/BLE communications, testing, and manufacturing.
- Enjoy variety and autonomy: Join a growing engineering team where you can solve problems, influence technical decisions, and see your work make it into real-world products.
- Work in a quality-focused environment: Support the development of advanced digital security products in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing setting.
What You'll Do
- Own PCBA design, including schematic capture, circuit design, PCB layout, design files, prototyping, and design-for-manufacturing improvements.
- Reverse-engineer and improve existing boards while developing reusable designs across a family of products.
- Bring up, debug, validate, and advance boards through certification and production.
- Read, modify, write, and debug embedded firmware while growing into shared ownership of production firmware and testing hardware.
- Coordinate prototypes, testing, and FCC, CE, and IC certification activities, working through design changes and test findings.
- Develop functional test procedures, QA test stations, and test fixtures to support internal teams and manufacturing partners.
- Interpret in-circuit test (ICT) results, troubleshoot supplier issues, and support root-cause investigations.
- Build relationships with external design partners, prototyping resources, and testing laboratories.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent technical experience.
- 5+ years of PCBA design experience, including schematic capture, circuit design, PCB layout, prototyping, and NPI, using Altium, KiCad, or similar tools.
- Hands-on experience with board bring-up, benchtop testing, debugging, validation, and simulation.
- Ability to read, modify, write, and debug embedded firmware, with the desire to develop deeper firmware ownership.
- Experience with design certification, root-cause analysis, functional test development, and manufacturing support.
- Experience adapting existing designs and developing reusable hardware architectures.
- Strong ownership mentality and the ability to drive projects forward in a small-team environment.
If you enjoy solving real engineering problems, taking ownership of your designs, and seeing your work move from the workbench into production, we'd love to hear from you!
