Job summary

Affinity Gaming in Las Vegas is seeking a Senior GL Accountant to manage daily journal entries, monthly close, and complex GL reconciliations across cash, bank, fixed assets, accruals and liabilities. The role requires solid accounting knowledge, Excel skills, and experience with accounting software systems.

You will support month-end close, prepare financial statements, monitor accruals, and ensure accuracy of GL data while maintaining strong internal controls in a casino/hotel environment.

Qualifications

• Three to six years of related experience.
• Prior General Ledger experience required.
• Casino/Hotel accounting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and records daily journal entries.
• Prepares monthly journal entries including prepaids, inventory, fixed assets, amortization.
• Assists with the month-end G/L closing and monthly financial statements.
• Processes property tax, license, CAM/rent accruals and monitors deadlines.
• Maintains awareness of all G/L activities and informs supervisor of concerns.
• Supervises the integrity of GL by analyses and resolving irregularities.
• Maintains knowledge of the accounting system.
• Ensures guest service and satisfaction for financial aspects with operators.
• Maintains accuracy of departmental records and reports.

Job description

The Senior GL Accountant prepares multiple general ledger reconciliations including: cash, bank, fixed assets, accruals and liabilities. Needs working knowledge and experience with accounting principles, excel, and accounting software systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepares and records daily journal entries, verifying that all transactions are properly entered into the G/L.
• Prepares monthly journal entries consisting of, but not limited to, prepaids, inventory, fixed assets, intangibles, insurance, accrued liabilities/expenses, depreciation/amortization and monthly allocations.
• Assists with the month-end G/L closing and preparation of monthly financial statements
• Processes property tax, license, CAM/rent accruals and monitors payment deadlines for timely processes
• Maintains a general awareness of all G/L activities: acts to protect the financial assets and keeps supervisor informed of any concerns.
• Supervises and maintains the integrity of the GL by performing various analyses and resolving any irregularities.
• Maintains a thorough knowledge and understanding of the accounting system.
• Ensures a maximum level of guest service and satisfaction for financial aspects are achieved and maintained with operators.
• Held accountable, to a very high degree, for the accuracy and thoroughness of departmental records and reports.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or equivalent. College Degree In Accounting Preferred.

Three to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.

Prior General Ledger experience required

Casino/Hotel accounting experience preferred
