Job summary

ManpowerGroup’s client in Santa Ana, CA is seeking a Sr. FPGA Engineer to lead FPGA architecture and RTL design efforts for aerospace and defense applications.

The role focuses on verification strategies, timing closure, and production-ready integration across electrical, firmware/software, test, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of professional engineering experience with FPGA design in aerospace/defense/high-reliability systems.
• Experience with FPGA architecture, RTL design, simulation, synthesis, timing closure, and hardware verification.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, and maintain FPGA-based digital logic solutions across the full lifecycle.
• Build FPGA architectures and RTL designs using VHDL and/or Verilog/SystemVerilog based on requirements.
• Own the FPGA development flow including simulation, verification, debugging, synthesis, timing analysis, and optimization.
• Create and execute FPGA verification strategies, test benches, and hardware validation activities.
• Integrate FPGA designs with processors, memory, clocks, high-speed interfaces, and other board-level hardware.

Our client, Aerospace and Defense is seeking a Sr. FPGA Engineer to join their team. As a Sr. FPGA Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering organization supporting the FPGA Design and Integration team. The ideal candidate will have strong FPGA architecture and RTL design expertise, a proven track record in verification and timing closure, and the ability to collaborate across electrical, firmware/software, test, manufacturing, and supply chain partners to deliver production-ready solutions.

What's the Job?

• Design, develop, implement, and maintain FPGA-based digital logic solutions for new and existing products across the full lifecycle.
• Build FPGA architectures and RTL designs using VHDL and/or Verilog/SystemVerilog based on system and product requirements.
• Own the FPGA development flow including simulation, functional verification, debugging, synthesis, implementation, timing analysis, and design optimization.
• Create and execute FPGA verification strategies, test benches, and hardware validation activities to confirm performance and requirements compliance.
• Integrate FPGA designs with processors, memory, clocks, high-speed interfaces, and other board-level hardware; troubleshoot issues across FPGA, electrical, and firmware/software boundaries.

What's Needed?

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of professional engineering experience with significant hands-on FPGA design and development in aerospace, defense, communications, or other high-reliability electronic systems.
• Demonstrated experience with FPGA architecture, RTL design, simulation, synthesis, implementation, timing closure, and hardware verification.
• Proficiency in VHDL and/or Verilog/SystemVerilog, with experience writing maintainable, reusable FPGA code.
• Hands-on experience with FPGA development tools such as AMD/Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, or comparable toolsets.
