Job summary

EagleRidge Energy, LLC in Dallas, TX, seeks an experienced accounting professional to prepare, evaluate, and maintain the data used to create our financial statements. You will be responsible for high-quality statements, accruals, allocations, and supporting audits.

Key duties include month-, quarter-, and year-end closes; drafting footnotes; coordinating with external auditors; maintaining policies and internal controls; and preparing leadership reports for management and the Board.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • CPA designation required.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in general accounting and financial reporting.
  • US GAAP knowledge; IFRS preferred but not required.
  • Strong Excel and accounting software proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Draft the annual report and all required financial footnotes.
  • Communicate and explain accounting issues to management.
  • Manage monthly accrual inputs and reverse when actual costs arrive.
  • Research and explain variances between planned and actual spend.
  • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and quarterly reviews.
  • Write and maintain accounting policy documents for clarity.
  • Maintain internal controls and reporting procedures.
  • Support month-end and year-end closes.
  • Verify and post transactions to ledgers and data systems.
  • Code financial data for system input per procedures.
  • Reconcile data and resolve report discrepancies.
  • Prepare leadership reports for management and the Board.
  • Participate in other accounting projects as needed.

Job description

The incumbent prepares, evaluates, and maintains the data used to create our company's financial records and statements. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality financial statements, managing accruals and allocations, and supporting financial audits.

Job Scope of Responsibilities:
  • Financial Statements: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Annual Reports: Draft the annual report and all required financial footnotes.
  • Accounting Guidance: Communicate and explain accounting issues and new rules to the management team.
  • Accrual Management: Manage monthly accrual inputs and reverse them once actual costs arrive.
  • Variance Analysis: Proactively research, understand, and explain differences between planned and actual spend.
  • Auditor Relations: Manage communications with external auditors to ensure agreement on company accounting choices.
  • Audit Coordination: Help coordinate annual audits and quarterly review activities with external auditors.
  • Policy Creation: Write and maintain accounting policy documents to improve clarity and consistency across the team.
  • Internal Controls: Create and maintain reporting procedures to comply with internal control requirements.
  • Period Close: Support the accounting team during month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Transaction Verification: Evaluate business documents like invoices and checks to prove transactions are valid.
  • Ledger Posting: Verify and post details of business transactions, including funds received and spent, into ledgers or spreadsheets.
  • Data Coding: Evaluate and code financial data for system input according to company procedures.
  • Discrepancy Resolution: Reconcile data and recommend fixes for report errors and problems.
  • Leadership Reporting: Gather and prepare important financial data for management and the Board of Directors.
  • Special Projects: Participate in other company and accounting projects as needed.

Education & Experience Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting.
  • Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in general accounting and financial reporting.
  • Accounting Standards: Excellent working knowledge of US GAAP and regulations. Must be able to research complex accounting rules and suggest company positions.
  • International Standards: Knowledge and experience with IFRS is preferred but not required.
  • Adaptability: Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle changing priorities.
  • Execution: Strong track record of following projects through to complete documentation.
  • Software: Intermediate to advanced knowledge of accounting software and spreadsheet applications.
  • Soft Skills: Inquisitive problem-solver who can use logic to influence key decision-makers.
