Job description

Our Finance team is passionate about supporting the business and ensuring resources are used wisely to drive impactful decisions. We’re looking for a collaborative, analytical thinker who enjoys solving problems, working with diverse teams, and translating data into actionable insights. As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will work closely with our business units, analyze operational data, and forecast expenditures. This role provides a foundational understanding of the business's financial health, which is used to drive change and set us up for long-term success.

Our Senior Financial Analyst opportunity reports to our Director of Financial Planning & Analysis. This is a remote role with a strong preference for candidates who live on the West Coast.

You Will...
  • Partner with business units and department owners in providing financial support during the strategic and annual budgeting cycles, including, but not limited to, the Engineering team
  • Provide financial reporting to understand performance versus plan, reconcile forecasts to actual results monthly, as well as trade-off scenarios in resource allocation to help drive decision making
  • Form trusted relationships with department leaders and key stakeholders across the company, as both a trusted resource and objective participant in financial planning and decision making
  • Develop and own financial models and analyses that support the short and long-term objectives of the department and the company
  • Maintain detailed financial forecasts that accurately predict business performance; highlight key variances, risks, and opportunities
  • Work closely with our Accounting team to ensure accurate results during the close of each financial period
  • Own the Balance Sheet model, Cash Flow model, and other income/expense assumptions, in partnership with Accounting
  • Maintain and expand the use of our budgeting and reporting systems; suggest process improvements to provide further leverage, as well as research tools to improve our finance processes
We’re Excited About Candidates Who Have…
  • BA/BS (or higher) in finance, accounting (or related quantitative field such as math, economics, science, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience in financial analysis
  • Demonstrated an increased level of complexity over time
  • Experience using financial planning and analysis systems and tools
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively, with support available when needed.
  • Demonstrated experience using data to make business decisions
  • We’re looking for a proactive and thoughtful collaborator who enjoys problem-solving, working with data, and communicating insights clearly.
  • Prioritizes and delivers in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders, and known for driving projects forward
  • Advanced Excel modeling & analytical skills, such as building financial models from scratch in Excel/Sheets, and usage of formulas standard to finance and analysis
  • Experience presenting financial data using detailed and easily-understood reporting and visualizations for business leaders
  • Interest in driving process improvements
  • First-hand knowledge of internet, social media, and online ads business model
  • 1+ years of experience working with NetSuite or Planful
  • 1+ years of experience working with Engineering teams and assessing infrastructure spend
  • Strong accounting knowledge, understanding of how financial statements are related
  • Experience in transaction advisory services or investment banking
