Job summary

Led by a CFO, a mission-driven nonprofit in Los Angeles is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst in a newly created role. The position supports financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, contract management, and strategic analysis in a government-funded environment.

You will partner with program leaders, build financial models and dashboards, assist with audits, and translate complex data into actionable insights for executives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • 3+ years in financial analysis, accounting, or related finance function.
  • Nonprofit experience required, with government funding grants or contracts knowledge.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting; advanced Excel proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc financial reports.
  • Monitor budgets, forecasts, and program financial performance.
  • Analyze government-funded contracts and grants to ensure compliance and maximize funding.
  • Partner with program leaders to review revenue, expenses, and budget variances.
  • Build and enhance financial models, dashboards, and reporting tools.
  • Develop new reports and analyses to support executive decision-making.
  • Assist with audits, compliance reviews, and funding reimbursement processes.
  • Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Los Angeles, CA | Hybrid Contract-to-Hire or Direct Hire

A mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join its finance team in a newly created role. Reporting directly to the CFO, this position will play a key role in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, contract management, and strategic analysis across a complex, government-funded environment.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or a related finance function
  • Nonprofit experience required
  • Experience working with government funding, grants, or contracts
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting skillsAdvanced Excel proficiency
  • Comfortable working with large datasets, databases, and financial systems
  • Ability to create reports from scratch and present findings in a meaningful way
Preferred Background
  • Behavioral health, healthcare, housing, or other government-funded nonprofit organizations
  • Department of Mental Health (DMH) funding experience heavily preferred
  • Knowledge of CFR 200 and grant compliance requirements
