Job description

Employment Type: Permanent / Direct-Hire

Job Location Type: Hybrid

The Senior Financial Planning Analyst will join a highly respected, mission driven organization known for long standing impact and financial stewardship. This opportunity is built for a Senior FA who wants to be close to decision making, influence outcomes, and see analysis turn into action. If you enjoy owning financial analysis and planning functions, partnering with leaders, and building models that actually matter, this is worth a closer look.

The Senior Financial Planning Analyst supports a complex, multi program organization operating in the healthcare and human services sector with structured governance and executive oversight. The environment values accountability, data driven decisions, and disciplined FP&A as the organization continues to expand services and deepen its financial sophistication. This person reports directly to the Manager of FP&A and works closely with senior finance leadership, department heads, and operational leaders, while collaborating alongside other FP&A and accounting professionals across budgeting, forecasting, and performance management. The Senior Financial Analyst acts as a trusted finance partner rather than a back-office reporter, bringing FP&A insights into everyday business conversations.

The Senior Financial Analyst works in an area known for innovation, diverse culture, and economic opportunity. Professionals enjoy access to world class dining, arts, and professional sports alongside outdoor recreation that includes coastline, parks, and nearby wine country. The region offers top-tier universities, a strong healthcare ecosystem, and a vibrant professional network that supports long term career growth. Many people choose to build both a career and a lifestyle here because opportunity and quality of life coexist.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead end to end FP&A activities including annual and multi-year budgeting, rolling forecasts, and long-range financial modeling
  • Translate complex financial data into clear insights for executives, non-finance leaders, and board level reporting
  • Build and maintain advanced financial models, dashboards, and analytical tools to support strategic planning and operational decisions
  • Partner with budget owners to review performance, explain variances, and recommend actions that improve financial outcomes
  • Support cost accounting structures and ensure accurate tracking of program and recurring expenses
  • Strengthen financial processes through automation, system enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Mentor junior analysts and contribute to skills development across the Financial Analysis and Planning team
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and organizational policies while supporting audits and governance needs
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Financial Analysis, Planning, Modeling, or Senior FA level work
  • Demonstrated ability to own full P&L forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis with confidence
  • Advanced Excel skills with experience building models from scratch and working with large data sets
  • Exposure to healthcare, nonprofit, or highly regulated environments with complex funding or cost structures
  • Comfort partnering with senior leaders and influencing decisions through clear communication
  • Experience supporting system implementations or upgrades within finance and FP&A functions
  • A mindset focused on growth, impact, and becoming a trusted strategic finance partner
Benefits and Compensation
  • Competitive base compensation
  • Comprehensive health and wellness offerings
  • Retirement savings support with employer contributions
  • Paid time off and holidays designed to support balance
  • Opportunities for professional development and continued growth within the finance organization
