Location: Walnut Creek
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week
Type: Temp‑to‑Hire
Pay: $46–$57/hour ($96,820–$121,025 annualized)

What You'll Do

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including AP/AR, payroll, billing, and general ledger activities.
• Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership and board committees.
• Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads and senior leadership.
• Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and external financial reviews.
• Strengthen and maintain internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial policies.
• Oversee cash flow management, forecasting, and financial risk assessment.
• Review government contracts and ensure compliance with reimbursement and reporting requirements.
• Manage banking relationships and monitor investment activity in alignment with organizational policies.
• Prepare grant budgets, funder reports, and financial updates for foundations and other partners.
• Stay current on nonprofit finance standards, compliance regulations, and best practices.
• Build strong relationships with board finance committees and serve as a resource for financial insights.
• Collaborate with program teams to ensure financial understanding and operational alignment.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to finance team members.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• 4–5+ years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
• Prior supervisory experience and a proven ability to lead and develop staff.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and QuickBooks.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make sound recommendations.
• Knowledge of GAAP, audits, and financial regulations relevant to nonprofit organizations.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Excellent communication skills, especially when partnering with non‑financial staff.
• Strong organizational skills, integrity, and a proactive, solutions‑driven mindset.
