Radio Field Service Technician – Livermore, CA
Location: 6011 Industrial Way, Livermore, CA 91761 (Onsite)
Salary: $25–$31 per hour (subject to union contract)
Job Category: Onsite – Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without immigration sponsorship.
What You Will Do
- Install, maintain, test, adjust, and repair radio and antenna equipment as part of the Air/Ground International Voice Service.
- Utilize test equipment to perform installations or repairs, ensuring proper functionality.
- Interact professionally with customers, vendors, and contractors to support maintenance and installation activities.
- Provide on‑job training to peers and new hires.
- Offer 24/7 on‑call support; be available after hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Travel up to 50% of the time.
- Obtain an FCC General Radiotelephone Operator's License (GROL) within 6 months.
- Maintain SIDA badging, complete Security Threat Assessment, fingerprint and criminal history checks, and SIDA training.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds; climb towers and stepped poles up to 50 feet.
- Assist in Facilities and EH&S tasks.
What You Will Learn
Support nationwide Air‑to‑Ground voice and data networks and custom communication solutions, gaining expertise in critical communication system operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
- Completion of a Practical Electronics course or minimum two years of Practical Electronics experience.
- Active FCC General Radiotelephone Operator's License (preferred).
- Experience fault isolation, restoration, and adjustment of communications equipment.
- Experience analyzing system failures and restoring equipment malfunctions.
- Experience testing, repairing, and replacing components and circuitry.
- Ability to read and follow technical manuals, schematics, and drawings.
