Job description

Supports policies and procedures to ensure optimal functioning of buildings, grounds, and associated equipment. Monitors daily building operations of all systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and safety to ensure reliability. Tracks work orders for quality, adherence to service standards, and budgeted guidelines. Directs training of supervisors and employees in best practices for maintenance work, service and safety standards, and local laws and regulations. Oversees vendors or contractors engaged for Facility and HVAC projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Supervise the maintenance and repair of all HVAC equipment at all campuses of The Potter’s House to ensure that all equipment and materials are sufficiently kept in optimal working order, including the maintenance of the McQuay chiller system. Install, maintain, and repair computerized electric pneumatic and digital direct control devices related to HVAC, heat control, such as fan coil units, Air Handlers, change filters, motors, belts, etc.
  2. Ensure team members understand their roles and conduct regular operational reviews, focusing on maintaining high performance and up-to-date dashboards.
  3. Manage financial, productivity, and safety targets, providing suggestions for building and grounds improvements.
  4. Collaborate with real estate and operations teams for build-out planning and facilities commissioning.
  5. Make independent decisions and lead the work of subordinate employees.
  6. Coordinate and supervise construction and renovation projects related to HVAC.
  7. Compile annual operations budget information.
  8. Arrange procurement of supplies, materials, tools, and equipment.
  9. Coordinate external contractors for installations, repairs, or maintenance.
  10. Respond to emergency after-hours calls and be present during emergencies when necessary.
  11. Maintain flexibility to be on-site for various events, including Sunday services and meetings.
  12. Communicate effectively and harmoniously with employees and the public.
  13. Conduct routine inspections and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance.
  14. Develop and adhere to work schedules.
  15. Maintain records, make recommendations, and prepare reports.
  16. Operate various equipment including hand tools, laptops, and diagnostic hardware.
  17. Respond to work requests and troubleshoot HVAC systems, including repairs and replacements.
  18. Participate in safety programs to ensure a safe work environment.
  19. Maintain parts inventory for maintenance and repairs.
  20. Delegate work requests to subordinates based on incoming work orders.
  21. Perform other related tasks as assigned.
  22. Develop and evaluate professional technical trades of HVAC staff, providing training and coaching as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
  • At least 10 years experience in multi-city facilities operations and management.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems & maintenance (HVAC, fire life safety, lighting, electrical, plumbing, EV charging stations, etc.).
  • EPA Certification required.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Registration with TDLR (Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation).
  • OSHA 10 Certification required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with chill water and hot water heating and cooling units.
  • Experience with refrigerated chilling systems.
  • Experience with direct expansion air conditioning and gas-fired heating systems.
  • Experience with HVAC energy management programs and systems.
  • Ability to implement Quality Control procedures for HVAC systems.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Heavy lifting (45-70 lbs).
  • Repeated bending, reaching, grasping, walking, standing, sitting, crawling, twisting, pushing, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders.
  • Good depth perception and hearing ability.
  • Work performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work at heights and identify colors.

Schedule:
