Job summary

Keeley Construction is seeking a Senior Estimator for our Heavy Civil Group in Austin, TX. You will lead estimates and proposals, perform cost analysis, and coordinate takeoffs with internal pricing.

You will oversee capital bids, negotiate with subcontractors, and drive reporting on national opportunities while maintaining high-quality estimates for water and wastewater projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in primary estimator responsibilities.
• Proficient with Outlook, Excel, Word, and estimating software.
• Experience with heavy civil construction projects, especially water/wastewater treatment plants and process piping.
• Strong communication and client/vendor relations.
• Detail oriented with time management.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for estimates and proposals including cost analysis, estimate coordination, and development/review of trade takeoffs and internal pricing.
• Oversee all capital bids before submission.
• Delegate new customer opportunities within estimating team.
• Evaluate subcontract cost estimates and proposals and assemble final owner estimate.
• Drive and maintain all National Opportunities Reporting.
• Perform productivity analysis of cost estimates and cost data across projects.
• Negotiate with subcontractors during bidding and maintain master subcontractor/vendor lists by trade.
• Compare and analyze competitive bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Maintain high-quality estimates with excellent customer service and operational excellence.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for estimates and proposals including cost analysis, estimate coordination, as well as development and review of trade takeoffs and internal pricing.
• Oversee all capital bids before submission.
• Delegate new customer opportunities within estimating team.
• Evaluate subcontract cost estimates and proposals, as well as preparing/reviewing self-perform estimates, and assembling final estimate for owner.
• Drive and maintain all National Opportunities Reporting.
• Perform productivity analysis of cost estimates, comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between projects.
• Negotiate with and engage in subcontract solicitation during the bidding process and maintain master subcontractor/vendor lists by trade.
• Compare and analyze competitive subcontractor and supplier bids.
• Exceed expectations with excellent customer service, operational excellence, and strategic insight.
• Maintain company quality standards with subcontractors and vendors while performing in a high-volume bid environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field plus a minimum of 5-7 years of experience performing primary responsibilities listed above.
• Proficient with Outlook, Excel, and Word, along with estimating software.
• Demonstrated experience with heavy civil construction projects, specifically water/wastewater treatment plants and process piping.
• Ability to build and maintain a positive working relationship with staff, vendors, and clients.
• Exceptional time management and customer relation skills.
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to assist with writing proposals and reports.
