Job summary

nLIGHT, headquartered in Camas, WA, is seeking an Equipment Technician to oversee maintenance of Test & Bonding equipment, perform setups, calibrations, troubleshooting, and preventative tasks using CMMS. The role supports tool installation, data collection (including SPC), and is active in continuous improvement and safety compliance.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree and strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics, work in a clean-room,

Qualifications

  • 3+ years equipment maintenance experience (not required).
  • Associate Degree in Electronics, Manufacturing Technology or equivalent working experience desired.
  • Strong background in Equipment Maintenance.
  • Ability to understand electrical schematics, pneumatic drawings, and piping schematics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to write technical procedures and work instructions.
  • General understanding of SPC.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office and computer skills.
  • Must be able to work in a clean-room environment, work from ladders, and lift <75 lbs.
  • Shift work is required.
  • Prefer prior experience of the Emergency Response Team with ability to wear respirators and SCBA equipment.
  • Demonstrates personal modesty with the intent to enhance teamwork dynamics.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain tools and facilities.
  • Set up, calibrate, troubleshoot, repairs, upgrades and preventative maintenance on Test & Bonding equipment using CMMS.
  • Support installation of process tools.
  • Collect and evaluate equipment data, including SPC, to ensure baselines and operations remain in control.
  • Create preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Drive improvement through team suggestions and implementation.
  • Provide recommendations for new or improved procedures.
  • Responsible for lab safety, spare part inventory, and 5S organization.
  • Cross-train technicians.
  • Support operations as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Functions
  • Responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of tools and facilities
  • Performs set‑up, calibration, troubleshooting, repairs, upgrades and preventative maintenance tasks on Test & Bonding equipment using CMMS system
  • Supports installation of process tools

  • Drives/enables suggestions from the team and other sources to implementation, resulting in continuous improvement
  • Provides recommendations for new or improved procedures

  • Cross trains other technicians
  • Supports operations as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Ideal candidate will have 3+ years equipment maintenance experience. (not required)

nLIGHT is proud to offer comprehensive COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Starting pay depends on qualifications:
  • Equipment Technician I – $24.00 to $30.00 per hour
  • Equipment Technician II – $26.00 to $33.80 per hour
  • Sr Equipment Technician – $28.50 to $38.50 per hour
  • Shift differentials are paid at the rate of 10% for hours worked between 5:30 PM and 12:00 AM and at 15% for hours worked between 12:00 AM and 5:30 AM
  • Target Cash Bonus with potential payout of up to 2% of earned wages
  • 120 hours of paid Vacation per year, plus paid Sick Leave and 10 paid Holidays
  • Eligible for health benefits on the 1st day of the month after your start date
