LEDVANCE is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to maintain, develop, and optimize luminaire customization in its manufacturing facility. The role focuses on reducing costs while preserving quality, and ensuring UL/ETL/NEC compliance.

You will document procedures in EDOS, manage SAP BOMs, interface with product management, and travel about 25% to support overseas factories and Westfield/QC teams.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in science or engineering with 2+ years in manufacturing quality or related experience.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; Chinese a plus.
  • Self-starter with minimum supervision.
  • Electrical experience highly desirable.
  • UL/ETL certification background and SAP experience preferred.

Job description

This position will be responsible for maintaining, developing, and operating manufacturing processes, procedures and systems. This position is also responsible for keeping the production costs down, while maintaining the quality of the product or service unaffected and have extensive knowledge and insights into projects. The person will be responsible for meeting UL / ETL and NEC criteria for all product builds and will resolve any variances.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Develop and implement technically complex methods and procedures for customization of luminaires in LEDVANCE's manufacturing facility. Provide guidance on manufacturing process optimization in overseas factories.

Interface with product management team to understand the requirements of the work.

  • Analyze the products to be customized.
  • Develop procedures for customization.
  • Define materials processing and handling procedures.
  • Optimize the process for high throughput and low cost.
  • Document the procedure in LEDVANCE's EDOS system
  • Document production BOMs in LEDVANCE SAP system
  • Make quotation based on fixed and variable cost.
  • Implement the process by working directly with factory operators. Travel time will have an average of 25%.
  • Provide technical support on manufacturing process.
  • Support UL / ETL audits with outside vendors - maintenance of all data
  • Support quality team for any quality variances due to MTO production
  • Provide options for alternative builds
  • Create UL labels
  • Maintain documentation for MTO builds and labor reporting monthly
  • Support Westfield technical teams
  • Support Quality team on warranty claims as needed
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Education: B.S. in a science or engineering field with at least 2 years in manufacturing quality or related experience. Manufacturing, electrical, mechanical, or quality engineering degree is preferred.
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Be a self-starter who works well under minimum supervision with some help from supervisor, or more senior technical members of the organization
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Knowing Chinese is a plus.
  • Electrical experience highly desirable
  • UL / ETL certification background preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Excellent skills in Excel, Word, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe PDF editor
  • Manufacturing background preferred
  • Materials knowledge or background a plus
  • Lighting knowledge or background a plus
  • Must be able to travel to LEDVANCE's distribution centers
