Job summary

Henpen Corporation is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to own the full product development lifecycle from concept through production for new electronic products. Location options include Mankato, MN or Alpharetta, GA with relocation assistance.

The role is hands-on with ownership across hardware development, prototype evaluation, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-quality designs.

Qualifications

• BSEE, BSET, or equivalent.
• Experience: 5+ years in electrical design engineering.
• Strong command of schematic reading and design tools (simulation, analysis, CAD).
• Hands-on experience taking products from napkin sketch to manufacturable design.
• Solid grasp of financial modeling and NPD processes.
• Creative problem-solver with sharp analytical instincts and clear communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead electronic/electrical design from concept to production.
• Create schematics, prototypes, and design iterations.
• Build and manage project timelines, budgets, and quality targets.
• Write product specifications, test plans, and verification documentation.
• Conduct feasibility studies, competitive testing, and design qualifications.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical/electronic issues during development and post-production.
• Generate ECOs and maintain complete engineering documentation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, operations, and suppliers on tooling and capacity planning.

What You’ll Do

You’ll own the full product development lifecycle from initial concept through production release for new electronic and electrical products, while also driving improvements to existing ones.

This is a hands‑on engineering role with real ownership and variety.

Core responsibilities include:

Leading innovative electronic/electrical design from concept to production, including schematic creation, prototyping, and design iteration Building and managing project timelines, budgets, and quality targets independently Designing, fabricating, and evaluating rapid and conventional prototypes for performance and reliability Writing product specifications, test plans, and verification documentation Conducting feasibility studies, competitive testing, and design qualifications Troubleshooting complex electrical/electronic issues during development and post-production Generating Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and maintaining complete engineering documentation Collaborating cross‑functionally with manufacturing, operations, and outside suppliers on tooling, assembly, and capacity planning
