Job summary

Universal Logistics Holdings Inc. in Memphis, TN seeks a supervisor to lead inbound/outbound dock operations for cross-docking, including unloading, scanning, and reloading.

You will manage a team of dock staff, monitor productivity, and ensure safety and efficiency across shifts. The ideal candidate has 0–5 years of supervisory experience in warehousing or transportation, solid communication skills, and a strong work ethic.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred.
• 0–5 years supervisory or management experience in warehousing, distribution or transportation environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Safety-conscious with attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all inbound and outbound dock operations for cross-docking, including trailer unloading, freight scanning, sortation, and reloading.
• Lead a team of material handlers, forklift operators, and dockworkers.
• Monitor labor productivity, accuracy rates, and trailer dwell times to meet or exceed KPIs.
• Conduct daily pre-shift meetings to communicate expectations, safety updates, and workload forecasts.
• Collaborate with Walmart transportation, yard management, and customer service teams to ensure smooth flow of freight and timely departures.
• Ensure all equipment (pallet jacks, forklifts, RF scanners) is operational and properly maintained.
• Enforce safety protocols and conduct regular safety audits and incident investigations.
• Train and mentor dock staff on procedures, performance goals, and operational standards.
• Prepare shift reports, performance data, and other documentation as required.
