Vernovis is looking for a Senior Director of Radiology Operations & Clinical Systems who will lead both the operational performance and the clinical technology of a complex, distributed radiology environment. Reporting within the technology organization, this role directly manages the Clinical Systems team responsible for the mission‑critical applications that run the entire radiology workflow, 24x7x365, across imaging centers, teleradiology clients, hospital clients, and radiologists. In parallel, the role owns the operational strategy needed to ensure radiology services scale efficiently while maintaining exceptional quality, physician engagement, and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate is equal parts technology leader and operations director: experienced managing 24x7x365 clinical systems and clinical operations, fluent in capacity and demand forecasting, and skilled at translating data into strategic decisions. This leader serves as the connective tissue between the Clinical Systems team and the operational divisions (Reading Services (teleradiology), outpatient imaging centers, and hospitals) brokering communication, prioritizing support needs, resolving recurring issues, and ensuring smooth, reliable service delivery across the enterprise.

What You'll Do
Clinical Systems Leadership (Technology)
  • Lead and develop the Clinical Systems team responsible for all mission-critical clinical applications supporting the end-to-end radiology workflow — imaging centers, teleradiology platform, radiologist reading tools, and supporting integrations — on a 24x7x365 basis.
  • Own uptime, reliability, and performance of clinical systems, including monitoring, incident response, escalation management, root-cause analysis, and permanent remediation of recurring issues.
  • Manage disciplined change management, release, and maintenance practices that protect clinical operations while enabling continuous improvement.
  • Implement new technology initiatives as prioritized and guided by the executive team, from planning through rollout, adoption, and stabilization.
  • Manage vendor relationships for clinical applications, including performance accountability, escalations, upgrades, roadmap alignment and expense / budgetary duties.
  • Partner with IT infrastructure, security, and product teams to ensure clinical systems are resilient, secure, and aligned with enterprise architecture and AI/automation strategy.
  • Participate in the Manager on Duty on-call rotation for escalations and incident management.
Cross-Divisional Service Delivery & Liaison (Operations)
  • Serve as the primary broker between the Clinical Systems team and operational stakeholders across various divisions.
  • Establish structured feedback channels with each division to collect issues, enhancement requests, and operational pain points.
  • Prioritize support issues and enhancements to work transparently across divisions, balancing clinical urgency, business impact, and resource capacity.
  • Identify and permanently resolve recurring issues, driving problem management rather than repeat break/fix cycles.
  • Ensure smooth, consistent service delivery across all divisions, with clear SLAs, communication protocols, and escalation paths.
Organizational Leadership
  • Lead the day-to-day and strategic operations of radiology services supporting a 24/7/365 distributed radiologist workforce.
  • Manage and optimize the capacity and utilization of radiologists to ensure service levels, turnaround times, and quality expectations are consistently met.
  • Develop operational frameworks that align staffing, workflow, and technology with organizational growth objectives.
  • Partner with physician leadership to ensure alignment between clinical quality, operational efficiency, technology usability, and service delivery.
  • Support physician engagement in both operational initiatives and clinical technology adoption.
  • Oversee operational performance across multiple imaging service lines and client environments.
Capacity Planning & Forecasting
  • Build and maintain radiologist capacity models and forecasting frameworks to align physician staffing coverage with anticipated imaging demand.
  • Maintain and optimize capacity repositories and operational dashboards used to monitor productivity, service levels, and operational throughput.
  • Use predictive modeling and operational analytics to anticipate demand fluctuations and staffing needs.
  • Continuously evaluate workflow efficiency and recommend improvements to optimize resource allocation.
KPI & Performance Management
  • Establish and monitor key metrics spanning both operations and technology: radiologist productivity, turnaround time (TAT), study volumes and utilization, coverage gaps, and service levels, alongside system uptime, incident volumes and resolution times, and support SLA performance.
  • Develop reporting structures that provide real-time visibility into operational and system performance for divisional and executive leadership.
  • Drive improvement initiatives based on data insights and KPI performance trends.
Strategic & Executive Collaboration
  • Serve as a senior leader working directly with VP‑level stakeholders and executive leadership across technology and operations.
  • Contribute to the long‑term business strategy for radiology services, including growth planning, operational scalability, technology roadmap, and new service opportunities.
  • Act as a key liaison between radiologists, clinical systems, operations teams, and executive leadership.
What You'll Have
  • 10+ years of leadership experience spanning healthcare technology and healthcare/radiology operations, including complex clinical service environments.
  • Demonstrated success managing 24/7/365 mission‑critical clinical systems, including uptime accountability, incident and problem management, and change management (ITIL or equivalent discipline preferred).
  • Deep familiarity with radiology clinical applications and workflow: RIS, PACS, worklist orchestration, voice recognition/reporting, teleradiology platforms, and related integrations (HL7, DICOM, FHIR).
  • Experience leading technical teams responsible for application support, system reliability, and technology implementations.
  • Demonstrated success managing 24/7/365 operations within a distributed workforce environment, including physician or radiologist staffing and utilization.
  • Strong background in capacity planning, operational forecasting, and KPI management across both operational and system performance domains.
  • Proven ability to broker communication and priorities across multiple business divisions and stakeholder groups with competing demands.
  • Experience with vendor management, including performance accountability and escalation for critical clinical applications.
  • Highly analytical, with experience developing operational dashboards, reporting frameworks, and performance analytics; strong Excel, analytics, and operational modeling capabilities.
  • Proven ability to lead large teams and collaborate with physician leadership.
  • Experience presenting operational and technology insights and strategy to executive and VP‑level leadership.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate data into actionable operational and technology strategy.
