A leading company in the optical care sector is seeking a Director of Merchandise Financial Planning. This role involves driving business growth through effective financial planning and managing a high-performing team, ensuring strategic alignment with corporate financial goals. Candidates must have extensive management experience and a strong background in merchandise financial planning principles.
General Summary
Provide leadership and direction to the Merchandise Financial Planning team. Drive business growth and profitability through financial impact forecasting of all product categories ensuring performance to revenue, margin, and GMROI strategic plans. Responsible for the translation of corporate financial targets into category level financial plans for Wholesale Partners and Retail Entities. KPI's are focused on but not limited to Revenue, Customers, COGS, GMROI, Inventory Investment, and Pricing Flow thru.

Pay Grade: Full Time and Remote
Pay: $129,332.40 - $172,442.85
Essential Functions
Responsible for creating investment plans and strategically forecasting and managing the financial aspects of the company’s costs and gross profit annually.
Oversees annual and forecast merchandise financial planning process.
Drives strategic planning down to key revenue, unit, cost, margin, and inventory key performance indicators in line with corporate financial plans.
Develops inventory flow plan to maximize GMROI in conjunction with revenue plans. Ensures GMROI growth by planning margin and inventory flow by category and week.
Reviews and analyzes key weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual business reports to monitor and drive key KPI performance.
Plans and executes COGS rate strategies to improve cost ratios and drive margin performance.
Supports and drives continuous improvements and efficiencies in Merchandise Financial Planning software and technology applications.
Builds and develops a high-performing Global Merchandise Planning team.
Job Specifications
Typically has the following skills or abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field or equivalent work experience; Minimum of 3 additional years of experience related to functional area
Minimum of 6 years of management experience with responsibilities for hiring, training, assigning work and managing performance of direct reports
Brings a global perspective and cultural sensitivity
Leadership experience in a merchandise financial planning environment, leading strategic financial decisions utilizing both a top-down and bottom-up methodology
Deep understanding of merchandise financial planning principles and interconnectivity of sales, cost, margin, inventory, and GMROI
Expertise in merchandise financial planning technologies and business processes
Manage complex projects where independent action, high degree of initiative and coordination across departments is required
Empathetic, inspiring people leader and champion
Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills
Proficient understanding of automated systems, data, and technology
Experience in driving significant process, system and organizational change
Proven ability to build partnerships and collaborate with other leaders, customers and industry partners to accomplish objectives
Skilled in negotiation, communication and presentation
Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on fostering constructive relationships
Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of his/her job duties.
Working Conditions
