Job summary

Vitalant is seeking a Sr. Director, Compensation to lead the design, governance, and administration of compensation programs. This role partners across HR, Finance, Payroll, HRIS, Legal, Talent Acquisition, and senior leadership to ensure equity and market competitiveness.

The position is hybrid, based in Scottsdale, AZ, and offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Requirements include a Bachelor's in a related field and advanced compensation expertise.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of compensation principles, including job evaluation and market pricing.
  • Knowledge of FLSA, pay transparency, minimum wage, overtime and recordkeeping.
  • Experience with salary survey participation and benchmarking.
  • Experience with HRIS, compensation planning tools, reporting practices.
  • Ability to develop compensation recommendations for leadership.
  • Experience in multi-site or geographically dispersed environments.
  • Experience leading annual compensation planning and governance initiatives.
  • Strong consultative guidance to HR partners, Finance, Legal, and leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, administration, and continuous improvement of compensation programs, policies, processes, and governance.
  • Conduct job evaluations, market pricing, salary structure development, FLSA reviews, and benchmarking.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, Payroll, HRIS, Legal, Talent Acquisition, and business leaders to support planning.
  • Manage annual compensation programs, including merit increases and incentive plans.
  • Develop compensation recommendations for hiring, promotions, transfers, and retention actions.
  • Analyze data, market trends, and internal equity to inform leadership decisions.
  • Ensure pay practices comply with wage/hour laws and transparency requirements.

Equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be considered.Advanced knowledge of compensation principles, practices, and methodologies, including job evaluation, job architecture, market pricing, salary structure design, incentive and variable pay programs, internal equity analysis, and pay administration required.Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local wage and hour laws and compensation-related regulations, including FLSA, equal pay requirements, pay transparency, minimum wage, overtime, and related recordkeeping requirements required.Knowledge of salary survey participation, market data interpretation, compensation benchmarking, and development of compensation recommendations required.Knowledge of HR systems, compensation planning tools, reporting, and data integrity practices preferred.LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONSCertified Compensation Professional (CCP) or progress toward CCP certification preferred.Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.EXPERIENCEEight years of progressively responsible compensation or total rewards experience, with significant emphasis on compensation program design, administration, analysis, and consultation required.
