Job description

At Samsara, we embrace a flexible working model that caters to the diverse needs of our teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Samsara's Global Compensation team designs and scales the programs that help us attract, reward, and retain the people building our Connected Operations platform. We're looking for a Senior Director, Compensation Partners to co-lead this team alongside our Director of Compensation Operations, reporting to the VP, Total Rewards. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across Engineering, Product, Sales, and G&A, and act as a key architect of Samsara's compensation strategy as we continue to scale globally. This is a remote position open to candidates in the U.S. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role.
  • Define and evolve Samsara's global compensation strategy and philosophy, aligning it with business goals, growth stage, and talent needs, and balancing market competitiveness, pay equity, and cost efficiency in a fast-moving environment
  • Own job architecture strategy — including leveling frameworks, job families, and career structures — to support consistency, clarity, and growth at scale
  • Drive complex, cross-functional compensation initiatives from concept through implementation, acting as directly responsible individual for outcomes, timelines, and quality
  • Advise senior leaders across Engineering, Product, Sales, and G&A on compensation trends, market competitiveness, and equity practices, including hiring offers, promotions, retention, and organizational changes for critical technical roles
  • Partner with the Director, Compensation Operations to design and implement scalable frameworks, tools, and processes that enable effective, consistent compensation decision-making globally
  • Benchmark against peer technology companies and evolving talent markets to keep Samsara's programs competitive
  • Partner with Finance on compensation planning, forecasting, and equity spend; with HRIS and People Analytics to improve tools and reporting; and with Recruiting to support competitive, scalable hiring strategies
  • Lead, coach, and develop a global team of Compensation Partners supporting multiple business units, building a culture of accountability, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
  • Hire, develop and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high performing team
Requirements
  • 8+ years of compensation experience, with deep expertise in broad-based pay and compensation design
  • Experience operating internationally, with a strong understanding of global market practices and regulatory considerations
  • Experience leading and developing compensation teams
  • A track record of shaping decisions and influencing outcomes at the senior leadership level, owning complex, high-impact initiatives end-to-end across strategy and execution
  • Experience partnering closely with Finance, HRIS, and People Analytics to improve compensation modeling, tools, and reporting
  • A demonstrated ability to build alignment, trust, and camaraderie across teams, leading through influence and developing others
  • The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including your city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role is also eligible for an initial RSU grant with no vesting cliff, and ongoing refresh opportunities tied to performance, subject to plan terms and conditions. Learn more about our total rewards and benefits below.
  • $193,200
  • $345,000 USD
  • At Samsara, we build for the people who keep the global economy moving. We want owners, not passengers, which is why our rewards are designed to fuel high-impact builders. Our compensation program delivers above-market total compensation through a combination of base salary, performance-based bonus/variable pay, and equity (for eligible roles) in a high-growth public company. We meaningfully differentiate pay for our top performers, who have the opportunity to earn above-market compensation that can outpace the broader market over time.
  • Beyond compensation, we provide the foundations that enable long-term success: a flexible, employee-led remote model, a professional development stipend, comprehensive health and parental leave plans, and more. If you’re ready to build for the long term and own the outcome, your journey starts here.
