Job Description

The Director of Estimating must be an energetic, self-motivated, and innovative individual with the skills to develop and execute estimating tasks and deliverables successfully. The role requires a collaborative team player and a strong leader to promote collaboration across all groups within CRB. The Director creates brand differentiation and market pre-eminence by enhancing project estimating expertise, excellence, and standardization.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement innovative project estimating standards, processes, and solutions across CRB.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement in estimating to maximize CRB’s risk/reward profile.
• Create and own strategies and priorities for CRB’s estimating expertise and differentiation, driving these throughout the organization.
• Manage CRB’s standards and processes for commercial project estimating.
• Promote design and construction estimating and cost awareness within CRB’s culture.
• Provide leadership in project estimating across CRB.
• Ensure project estimating training is integrated into CRB’s career development pathways.
• Support recruitment and staffing for the Corporate Estimating Team.
• Participate in staff performance reviews for estimating personnel.
• Develop the annual business plan for Estimating.
• Approve department costs related to estimating (software, expenses, etc.).
• Participate actively on the Risk Committee for project proposals.
• Serve as Lead Estimator when workload demands.
• Collaborate with Directors of Cost Control, Planning/Scheduling, and Project Management to coordinate integrated design and construction practices.

Qualifications

• College Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in Architecture, Engineering, and/or Construction industries.
• Proven success in managing architecture, engineering, and construction processes.
• Experience with Integrated Project Delivery is a plus.
• Experience in Life Science Design and Construction.
• Previous project management or pre-construction experience.
• Strong understanding of project and estimate lifecycles.
• Knowledge of project logistics and scheduling.
• Ability to organize, plan, and manage multiple activities effectively.
• Decisive under tight deadlines.
• Conceptual and detailed estimating skills.
• Understanding of standard design and construction details and drawings.
• Self-motivated with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of estimating practices and software such as Timberline (Sage Estimating) and OnScreen Takeoff.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with Life Science, Industrial, and Commercial projects.
