About the role:

The BD Software Technology Solutions Division (STS) seeks a hands-on Sr. Engineering Manager to build and maintain a Clinical Interface Engine. This role requires leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to mentor and solve complex problems. You will partner with multiple teams to guide the creation and consumption of clinical data.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain a scalable, high-performance Health data interface engine.
• Create clear technical design artifacts considering dependencies, failure states, maintainability, and supportability.
• Collaborate with Architecture, PM, DevOps, and stakeholders to align the team's strategic roadmap with overall program vision.
• Develop performance metrics to monitor HL7 v2 interface effectiveness and efficiency.
• Apply software engineering best practices across the codebase.
• Work with program management to establish milestones and manage risks.
• Make decisions on scope, tasks, and design requirements.
• Attract, develop, and retain BD associates.
• Ensure shared understanding of complex topics within the team.
• Lead process improvement initiatives across the department.

Experience Required:

• 10+ years in Health Technology, with success in developing high-volume data interfaces and 3+ years in a Cloud environment.
• 5+ years leading teams and managing direct reports.
• Strong knowledge of HL7 interface engines like Iguana, Intersystem.
• Experience with HL7 FHIR, CDA, v2.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and serverless tech.
• Experience leading modern software practices and continuous delivery.
• Designing systems with observability for anomalies and performance issues.
• Understanding of cloud architecture and design.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in programming languages (Golang, Python, Java).
• Experience with Agile and DevOps practices.
