Job summary

Uber is seeking a Developer Advocate for Cadence to empower developers building Cadence-based services. You will craft technical content, demos, and educational resources while growing and supporting the Cadence developer community.

You will collaborate with Uber engineers and users to improve the developer experience, represent Cadence at events, and help define the advocacy strategy and roadmap. Remote or hybrid in US locations is possible, with strong collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software engineering, developer relations, or a related technical role.
• Strong backend development experience, with Go or another backend language.
• Experience building and explaining distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or developer platforms.
• Experience creating technical content, demos, tutorials, or presentations for developers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to engage effectively with open-source communities and software developers.
• Excellent technical writing skills.
• Knowledge of setting up and debugging distributed systems on cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Familiar with Cassandra, MySQL, ElasticSearch, Kafka, Kubernetes, React and languages like Go, Java, JavaScript.
• Experience with building libraries and SDKs.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems fundamentals.
• Excellent communication skills.

We are looking for a developer advocate to support other developers to increase developer efficiency by working with engineers across Uber to help them build Cadence-based services successfully, creating and improving resources to educate users and building a developer community of Cadence users.

What The Candidate Will Do

• Build and grow the Cadence developer community through technical content, talks, workshops, and events.

Basic Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, developer relations, developer advocacy, or a related technical role.
• Strong software development experience, with proficiency in Go or another backend programming language.
• Experience building and explaining distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or developer platforms.
• Experience creating technical content, demos, tutorials, or presentations for developers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to engage effectively with open-source communities and software developers.
• Great technical writing skills
• Knowledge on setting up and debugging distributed systems on cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Knowledge of technologies like Cassandra, MySQL, ElasticSearch, Kafka, Kubernetes, React and programming languages like Go, Java, Javascript
• Experience with building libraries and SDKs
• Understanding of distributed systems and a good understanding of its fundamentals
• Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Cadence, Temporal, SWF or Durable Functions
• Coding skills with a high bar for quality and scalability
• Familiarity with metrics collection systems like Prometheus
• Experience with Thrift, gRPC, protobuf

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $190,000 per year - USD $211,000 per year.

For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $190,000 per year - USD $211,000 per year.

For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
