Summary of Role/Position

The DC IT Senior Manager is a modern warehouse operations technology and engineering leader who bridges the gap between distribution center operations and the technology that powers them. This person leads technology operations and support teams across CarParts.com's distribution center network (JAX, GPT, LSL, LAS1), and is equally comfortable talking through a picking, packing, shipping, or inbound receiving workflow with an ops leader as they are diagnosing a wireless network issue or a device fleet problem with their own team.

The ideal candidate understands how a DC actually runs — picking, packing, shipping, receiving, inbound, and inventory control — and brings genuine curiosity about the technology layer underneath all of it: the handheld devices and applications DC associates use every day, the wireless network those devices depend on, and enough depth on networking to partner credibly with the headquarters network team. This is someone who stays composed and solutions-focused when operations is under pressure to hit SLAs and outbound quality targets, turning that urgency into fast, clear technology action, and who leads a team below them with a proactive, metrics-driven, automation-focused approach to engineering.

YOU WILL:
  • Own uptime and availability targets (99.9%+) across all systems supporting the DC network and hold the team accountable to SLAs — with a clear view of how downtime translates into picking, packing, shipping and outbound quality impact for the operations team.
  • Build, lead, and develop a team of IT Service Analysts and technicians across all four DC sites, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and staffing plans.
  • Serve as the technology partner to DC operations leadership across picking, packing, shipping, receiving, inbound, and inventory control, maintaining deep working knowledge of the devices, wireless network, and applications DC associates use daily, and partnering with the headquarters network team on design, troubleshooting, and capacity needs across all sites.
  • Establish and oversee escalation protocols for critical incidents, ensuring appropriate coverage during business and non-business hours across sites — staying composed and solutions-focused when operations is under pressure to hit SLAs and outbound quality targets.
  • Drive root cause analysis and post-incident review processes for high-priority incidents; partner with software engineering leadership to prioritize fixes, defects, and workflow optimization.
  • Set and oversee standards for technology infrastructure across DC sites — end-user devices (IP phones, desktops, mobile devices, handhelds) and network infrastructure (switches, access points, connectivity, firewalls) — managing vendor relationships and escalation paths.
  • Champion a metrics-driven, automation-focused approach to the team's own operations — identifying where proactive monitoring or automation can reduce incidents before they hit the floor, rather than just responding faster after the fact.
  • Own technology investment strategy — evaluating new solutions, building the business case, and managing department budget, vendor contracts, and capital planning for DC technology infrastructure.
  • Maintain working knowledge of SQL Server scripting and WMS systems to guide team troubleshooting and technical decisions.
YOU MUST HAVE:
  • 5+ years of experience in DC Operations/Warehousing technology support, including 2+ years in a people management or team lead role
  • 4+ years of experience supporting technology in an e-commerce organization with multiple distribution centers
  • Experience managing distributed teams across multiple physical sites
  • 3+ years of WMS system experience
  • 2+ years of Windows Server administration and knowledge of DHCP, DNS, and file servers
  • 2+ years of experience overseeing desktop support operations for hardware/software solutions
  • Experience supporting RF Devices, Mobile Printers, and Label Printers at scale
  • 2+ years of network administration and troubleshooting, including APs, switches, and routers
  • Demonstrated experience developing process documentation and standard operating procedures across sites
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing technical teams with minimal supervision
  • A continuous improvement mindset for team development, process, and innovation
  • Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple sites and deliver on tight deadlines
  • Availability for on-call escalation and flexibility to support DC Operations, system updates, and new technology rollouts across time zones
Additional Good to Have Certifications:
  • MCSA or MCSE certification
  • A+ Security certification
  • PowerShell scripting
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification
