Job summary

CarParts.com is seeking a Safety Coordinator/Team Lead to drive safety awareness in our distribution center across all shifts. You will support DC leadership and the Safety Director in developing and implementing environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures, training, inspections, and audits.

You will help ensure safety and security measures are followed and manage access badges for associates and contractors.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Environmental, Health and Safety experience in distribution centers.
  • Knowledge of emergency response protocols.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes safety awareness and cultivates DC safety culture through leadership.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Maintain confidentiality of responsibilities.
  • Complete assigned safety projects independently and in a team.
  • Conduct safety training sessions for associates and contractors.
  • Inspect conditions for health and safety compliance.
  • Prepare ad hoc safety reports detailing inspections.
  • Coordinate accident investigations and safety meetings.
  • Suggest process improvements to meet health and safety standards.
  • Address workplace health and safety issues and incidents.
  • Collaborate with DC leadership to monitor compliance.
  • Monitor reports in WMS (site specific).
  • Ensure PIT safety training records are current and conduct weekly checks.
  • Maintain clean, safe work areas per OSHA guidelines.
  • Conduct safety audits of operations.
  • Participate in post-injury investigations and evaluations.
  • Inspect safety equipment and facilities.
  • Coordinate safety training for PIT and certifications.
  • Perform security functions and badge issuance as needed.
  • Lead DC safety committee activities across shifts.

Job Summary

TheDCSafetyCoordinator/Team Lead position is responsible for driving and ensuringsafetyawarenessof the distribution center on all shifts. In thisstrategicsafetysupportrole,you willcloselysupportdistribution center leadership and thecompanySafetyDirectorindeveloping and implementingenvironmental,health,andsafety(EHS)policies,procedures, training, inspections, and audits.The safety coordinator will ensure DC safety and security measures are followed, as well as monitor, support,andissueassociateand contractoraccessbadges.Assistwithenvironmental,health and safety(EHS)inspections of thedistributioncenter.Driveconsistencywithsafetyincidentinvestigations, fact-finding, data collection and root cause analysis, and corrective actions.You will drive pro-active safety cultureengagementthrough risk mitigation andaddressingunsafe behaviors andhazards in the workplace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promotesafety awareness and cultivatedistribution centersafety culture.Works cooperatively and harmoniously withdistribution center management,supervisors, leads, co-workers, andsupport departments.
  • Understand and ensureregulatorycompliance with all state and federal regulatory laws andregulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all aspects of job responsibilities.
  • Completesassigned safetyprojects and tasksindependently and work well within a team environment.
  • Conduct safety training(new hire, refresher, job specific, powered industrial truck)sessions forassociatesand contractors.
  • Inspects working conditions to ensure allareasand activities are compliant withhealth andsafety guidelines.
  • Preparesad hocsafetyreports detailing inspection process and other activities.
  • Coordinatesaccidentinvestigations, safetyreview meetings and safetycommitteemeetings as needed.
  • Suggests revisions tooperationalprocess methods and employee activity that does not meet health and safetyexpectations.
  • Addresses any workplace-related healthand safetyissues andaccidents.
  • Collaboratecloselywithdistribution centerleadership to monitor compliance and identify health andsafety issues.
  • Dailymonitoringreportsand impacts in i -warehousesoftware. (site specific)
  • Ensure allpowered industrial truck (PIT) safetytrainingrecords are current and performweeklychecks for accuracy.
  • Keep work areassafe, organized, and clean according to general warehousing/office practices and OSHA requirements daily.
  • Conducthealth andsafety audits on operational compliancewithsafety policies and procedures.
  • Participate inpost-injury and incident investigations and evaluations.
  • Inspects liftsafety equipment such asfire exits, emergency lights, fire suppression systems, fire Extinguishers,first Aid Kits,emergencyeyewashes, and other safety equipment.
  • Coordinatessafetytraining forassociates withPowered Industrial Trucks(PIT), classroom, and floorpracticalcertifications.
  • Performs security functions, such as monitor associates when entering the building, issue badges and other security functions as needed.
  • Lead and drive participation on theDCsafety committee on all shifts.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary.

Experience: Prior safety and warehouse experience required

Machines, Tools, Equipment (Office and Industrial), Software: Warehouse management system terminal, calculator, fax machine, copier, and telephone. Microsoft office with intermediate Excel focus.

Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 10Houror30HourCertifications.
  • Bachelors / associate degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired .
