Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP is seeking qualified construction inspectors for water-sewer infrastructure and water-wastewater facilities in the Pittsburgh area. The role requires five years of resident inspection experience and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Applicants should be able to monitor contractors, track quantities, review payment requisitions, and maintain inspection records and as-built drawings. Travel to sites with a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or State Equivalency Certificate required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of resident inspection experience in water-sewer, pumping stations, or treatment plants.
  • Experience monitoring contractor work for conformance to plans, specs, and permits.
  • Familiarity with regional W-WW agencies (e.g., PWSA, ALCOSAN) preferred.

Job description

WRA is seeking qualified construction inspectors for water-sewer infrastructure, water-wastewater treatment plants and pumping station facility assignments.

Requirements
  • Must have a High School Diploma or State Equivalency Certificate
  • Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated resident inspection experience in one or more of the following categories:
    • Water- Sewer Linear Infrastructure including rehabilitation, relining/CIPP, relocations and new construction
    • Water or Wastewater Pumping Stations including new construction and rehabilitation
    • Water & Wastewater Treatment Plantsincluding upgrades or rehabilitation and new construction for facility expansions.
  • All projects require monitoring the contractor’s work for conformance to the design contract plans, specifications and general permit requirements, tracking daily quantities, completing daily electronic inspection reports, reviewing payment requisitions, maintaining field construction documentation and as-built drawings.
  • Specific experience with regional W-WW agencies preferred, including but not limited to PWSA and ALCOSAN.
Additional Training or Certifications
  • Sediment & erosion control certifications- NICET, NASSCO certifications desirable including NASSCO- PACP/MACP/LACP for sanitary sewer pipeline and manhole repairs/rehabilitation.
  • Certification in Temporary Traffic Control also required for any assigned contracts involving monitoring Contractor MOT or Lane Closures.
  • Confined Space training and current certification required for all manhole/pipeline inspection assignments.
  • Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle for travel to and from assigned construction sites.
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Must have the ability to read/interpret plans and specifications; writing and drawing skills necessary to complete inspection reports and sketch books.
  • Basic computer skills are required for completing electronic inspection reports including familiarity with eConstruction software for project document control.
Physical Requirements (Essential Functions)
  • Walking and navigating across rough or uneven terrain such as mud, rocks, grass, dirt, steep hillsides, heavily wooded areas, and other unpaved surfaces
  • Moving around active project sites, which may involve climbing ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, or poles
  • Performing physical activities such as bending, twisting, kneeling, and climbing
  • Remaining in a stationary position—either standing or sitting for extended periods of time
  • Repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds and/or carting objects up to 50 lbs distances up to100 yards.
  • Driving to and from project sites which may involve distances of up to or exceeding 120 miles round trip.
  • Must be able to function safely in an environment with potential risks, including, but not limited to those described in this document.
  • Work from heights exceeding 6 feet
  • Must be able to wear a properly fitted safety harness and be knowledgeable of the correct use and of regular inspection of the harness and components
  • Must be willing to work nights and overtime, when required by the project assignment

The work environment may include exposure to a range of environmental conditions, including high and low temperatures, precipitation, and other outdoor elements. Work may also be performed in noisy conditions or confined/enclosed spaces.

The expected compensation range for this position is $70,000.00 - $135,000.00. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
