Job summary

Munson Healthcare is seeking an experienced outpatient coder to accurately code and abstract medical records according to standards. The role requires a strong understanding of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding, with RHIT/RHIA or CCS certification preferred.

Responsibilities include maintaining organized coding references, participating in educational activities, and ensuring timely productivity. A sign-on bonus of $4,500 is offered to eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information is required.
• CCS certification and 2 years coding experience will be considered.
• RHIT, RHIA or CCS certification is required.
• Two years’ previous coding experience using ICD10-CM, CPT-4 coding systems (Outpatient Senior Coder).

• Accurately codes and abstracts outpatient medical records, per work assignment, meeting expected productivity standards.
• Assigns ICD10-CM diagnosis and CPT-4 procedure codes, per established national, departmental guidelines and AHIMA Code of Ethics.

What’s Required

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information is required. CCS certification and 2 years coding experience will be considered.
• Certification as a Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is required.
• Two years’ previous coding experience using ICD10-CM, CPT-4 coding systems (Outpatient Senior Coder).
