Job summary

Smith+Nephew is seeking a seasoned machinist to fabricate prototype components, fixtures, and tooling for our sports medicine and ENT product lines. You will program, set up, and run CNC machines including milling and EDM, while reading drawings and inspecting tolerances.

The role requires a 6+ year machine shop background and an apprenticeship; Senior Journeyman is preferred. Expect a hands-on environment with strong emphasis on quality and safety in a fast-paced shop.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years machine shop experience mandatory.
• Completion of apprenticeship as a machinist required; Senior Journeyman preferred.
• Adaptability to work with minimal supervision from drawings or sketches.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate unique, low volume components, fixtures and tooling meeting shop work order requirements.
• Program, set-up, edit programs, and run CNC machinery such as milling and EDM.
• Read drawings and tolerances, inspect dimensions on final product.
• Maintain calibration, preventive maintenance and repair of equipment.
• Assist in ordering tooling and raw materials for prototyping activities.
• Maintain shop cleanliness and safety standards.
