Job summary

Smith+ Nephew is looking for a CNC technician to set up and operate CNC and manual machining equipment. You will read blueprints, establish tool offsets, and ensure product quality using inspection tools in a team environment.

The role requires 1–2 years CNC experience, high school diploma or equivalent, and certifications in multiple manufacturing areas. Expect physical duties including standing and lifting up to 25 lbs, with a strong emphasis on safety and compliance.

This position requires a person to perform simple to moderately complex setups and operate manual/CNC equipment to manufacture medical components from raw material in a team-based environment. The employee must comply with all governing rules, including Smith & Nephew policies and procedures, and adhere to workplace safety and cleanliness practices. This position works under minimal supervision.

What will you be doing?

• Machining Operations Set up and operate CNC and manual machining equipment including turning, milling, grinding, drilling, tapping, EDM, and honing
• Run multiple machines simultaneously
• Participate in product and process improvements
• Use inspection equipment to verify product quality
• Prepare materials and work orders
• Read blueprints, establish tool offsets, and replace worn tooling
• Documentation and Compliance Complete required records and documentation Follow company policies, quality procedures, FDA/QSR requirements, and other applicable regulations Perform labor transactions and barcode scanning Participate in team-based continuous improvement activities Safety and Housekeeping Maintain equipment as required Keep the work area clean and organized Follow health, safety, environmental, and job hazard requirements Perform other related duties as assigned

The anticipated base compensation range for this position is $18.75 - $28.12 USD hourly. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role at Smith + Nephew. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
