Job summary

Smith+Nephew in Memphis is seeking a Sr. CNC Programmer to create, maintain, and optimize multi-axis CNC programs using CAD/CAM to produce high-quality components for life-changing medical technology.

You will improve machining efficiency, support regulated manufacturing, prepare work instructions, validate machining processes, and mentor other programmers and machinists while collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Development and Quality.

Qualifications

• 5+ years CNC programming experience in a regulated environment.
• Proficient with CAD/CAM software and multi-axis programming.
• Experience with UG NX or Siemens NX is required.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain and optimize multi-axis CNC programs using CAD/CAM to produce high-quality components.
• Improve machining efficiency through optimized cutting strategies and tool life management.
• Support regulated manufacturing operations with robust CNC solutions and validations.
• Prepare detailed work instructions and support machining validations including operator training.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Development and Quality teams.

This is an opportunity to bring your technical expertise to a highly regulated environment where quality, innovation and collaboration matter every day.What will you be doing?Creating, maintaining and optimizing multi axis CNC programs using CAD CAM software to produce high quality componentsImproving machining efficiency through optimized cutting strategies, tool life and standardized processesSupporting regulated manufacturing operations by developing robust and compliant CNC machining solutionsProving out CNC programs on machine tools and making real time corrections as requiredPreparing detailed work instructions and supporting machining validations including operator trainingCollaborating closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Development, Quality and plant teamsMaintaining the master CNC program directory to ensure file integrity and complianceDriving cost improvement initiatives and supporting continuous improvement and kaizen activitiesProviding technical guidance, mentoring and task coordination for other programmers and machinistsSupporting equipment validation and contributing to the selection of new machining equipmentWhat will you need to be successful?High school diploma required, technical or college degree preferredMinimum of 5 years of CNC programming experience including at least 3 years using CAD CAM softwareStrong experience programming multi axis mills, mill turn or lathe equipment using systems such as UG NX or similarSolid understanding of machining processes, tooling, feeds and speeds with a focus on standardizationAbility to work effectively in a regulated manufacturing environmentStrong analytical, mathematical and problem solving skills including trigonometryClear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work cross functionallyYou.
