Job summary

UW Health in Madison, Wisconsin is seeking a Sr. Casting Technician-Pediatric to join our Orthopedic team and support pediatric patients with casts, braces, and wound care. This 100% FTE, day-shift role is on-site at American Family Children's Hospital and UW Health Science Drive Medical Center.

You will collaborate with orthopedic surgeons and staff to determine the best casting options, perform cast application/removal, and uphold policies while delivering compassionate, family-centered care.

Qualifications

  • No minimum education required.
  • 2 years experience applying casts, splints and other orthopedic devices.
  • Current CPR/AED Certification Required.
  • Current Casting Technician/Technologist Certification Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Join orthopedic surgeons providing a full range of surgical services.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to determine the most appropriate cast or brace for a patient with particular diagnosis and treatment(s).
  • Assist with development and follow policies and procedures relating to cast room staff duties.
  • Provide quality care to pediatric patients in a compassionate and patient-family centered environment.
  • Apply and remove casts, apply and adjust braces and splints, perform suture removal and minor wound care, and stocking supplies.
  • Promote healthy lifestyles, wellness and education.

Job description

Work Schedule:
100% FTE, 40 hours per week, day shift. Weekly schedule will be Monday - Friday, 8am-4:30pm. This position will work onsite at American Family Children's Hospital at University Hospital at 1675 Highland Ave., Madison, WI. It will also work at our Science Drive Medical Center at 621 Science Dr., Madison, WI.
