Job Summary
This is an in-person role based in Houston, TX. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Buyer to lead our procurement efforts. The ideal candidate will manage sourcing and purchasing of materials, ensure optimal inventory control, and collaborate with various departments to meet organizational goals. This role requires strong experience with SAP, materials management, and logistics to support our supply chain operations. Our focus is on purchasing at the best price, maintaining high quality, and ensuring on-time deliveries.

Responsibilities

  1. Create, negotiate, and issue RFQs and purchase orders based on material requirements from manufacturing, field operations, and special projects.
  2. Vet, review, and assess current and new suppliers regarding delivery times, quality, and pricing.
  3. Utilize SAP for tracking purchases, managing supplier relationships, and maintaining accurate records.
  4. Collaborate with logistics, production, and finance teams to align procurement activities with company objectives.
  5. Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.
  6. Monitor market trends and supplier performance to identify improvement opportunities.
  7. Ensure procurement activities are completed promptly to minimize manufacturing or receiving delays.
  8. Prepare reports on purchasing activities, supplier performance, and inventory status for management review.
  9. Review manufacturing drawings and discuss requirements and challenges.
  10. Support Accounts Payable with any invoicing variances.

Requirements

  1. 3-5 years of experience in Oil & Gas, Directional Drilling, or Manufacturing of Drilling Tools.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  3. Proven procurement or materials management experience, including face-to-face interactions if required.
  4. Strong knowledge of outsourced machining, electronics manufacturing, additive manufacturing, and MRO.
  5. Extensive knowledge of MRP systems and logistics operations.
  6. Proficiency in SAP software applications.
  7. Excellent negotiation skills with a successful contract management track record.
  8. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for effective decision-making.
  9. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
  10. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
