Job description

Plan the procurement of materials required to support customer demand and new product introduction, and develop and execute the business unit production schedule.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead and plan materials requirements and place purchase orders from outside suppliers to support production schedules and new product launches, including:
  • Negotiating and forecasting prices and delivery; Monitoring PPV (purchasing price variance)
  • Partnering with suppliers to ensure materials meet specifications
  • Leading cross-functional teams to resolve obstacles, including issues with non-conforming material, unclear specifications, or vendor capacity constraints
  • Analyzing current EW and VMI levels to determine if VMI release is warranted, and communicating inventory and future requirements to suppliers
  • Expediting purchase orders as needed, from receiving to production stores
  • Participating in the Material Review Board (MRB) for supplier-related issues and collaborating on quality dispositions
  • Evaluating and monitoring equipment/assets acquisition through CPA process
  • Establish and maintain inventory targets; develop action plans to meet them
  • Identify, plan, and execute cost and cycle time reduction initiatives
  • Update MRP parameters within the manufacturing system
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, with 5 years of relevant experience; experience in purchasing or production control required
    • Master's Degree or equivalent preferred
    Additional Skills:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
    • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
    • Knowledge of Edwards policies, procedures, and guidelines related to purchasing and production control
    • Understanding of MRP and inventory management programs (e.g., JIT/Kanban, Min/Max)
    • Market and economic awareness relevant to procurement
    • Attention to detail and ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
    • Leadership and talent development skills
    • Ability to work independently on complex projects, ensuring accuracy and soundness
