Job summary

Bluecloud is seeking a senior backend software engineer to develop high‑quality backend code in Python or Kotlin for the Affirm Card product, building scalable APIs and data models.

You will design systems and collaborate with Product, Analytics and engineering teams to implement solutions across distributed architectures and async messaging.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend senior software engineering experience in Python or Kotlin.
• Strong relational database and distributed systems knowledge.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; experience with async messaging.

Job description

• Design systems and contribute to implementation, working cross-functionally with Product, Analytics, and other engineering teams.
• Build APIs and data models for service-oriented and event-driven architectures.

Qualifications:

• 6+ years of experience as a backend senior software engineer in Python or Kotlin.
• Strong understanding of relational database best practices and distributed systems.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and experience with async communication.

Additional:

• Experience with AWS or other cloud providers is a plus.
• Prior experience with card systems (e.g., Marqeta, Stripe, FIS) is a plus.
• Passion for working with multi-functional teams including Product, Design, Analytics, and Business.
