NVR is seeking an Sr. Architectural Specialist - Permit Support within its Architectural Services Team in Frederick, MD. You will serve as a subject matter expert ensuring projects meet building codes, regulations, and safety standards while responding to permit questions from partners and officials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or associate degree in construction, architecture, engineering or design.
• Minimum 7+ years of managing permit submissions.
• Architecture or Engineering license a plus.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with building code officials to resolve permit-related issues.
• Coordinate with Homebuilding and Warranty teams to identify preventative design changes.
• Facilitate training on code compliance within the building process.
• Review, schedule, complete, and assign permits to department team members.
• Apply knowledge of building codes, compliance standards, and construction practices to support team members and projects.
• Conduct regular meetings with Homebuilding, Manufacturing, Procurement, and other departments to discuss updates.
• Consult with engineers, architects, estimators, code officials, and other experts to ensure documents are complete and accurate.

NVR – the parent company of Ryan Homes, NV Homes, and Heartland Homes – is searching for a Sr. Architectural Specialist - Permit Support to be integral to our Architectural Services Team, which emphasizes collaboration and innovation. You will work with teams as a subject matter expert responsible for ensuring that assigned projects adhere to all applicable building codes, regulations, and safety standards. You will also be responsible for working with NVR’s home building partners by responding to permit-related questions. You will also engage with external parties, including code officials and/or other professional associations.

What you will be doing:

• Collaborate with Homebuilding personnel, local, state, and county building code officials to resolve permit related issues.
• Coordinate with Homebuilding and Warranty teams to identify preventative design changes.
• Facilitate training of department team members on all aspects of code compliance within the building process.
• Responsible for reviewing, scheduling, completing, and assigning permits to department team members.
• Apply in-depth knowledge and expertise of building codes, compliance standards, and construction practices to support team members and projects, ensuring that all aspects meet the quality and technical standards established by NVR.
• Conduct regular meetings with Homebuilding, Manufacturing, Procurement, and other relevant departments to discuss ongoing projects, compliance issues, and code updates, ensuring all teams are aligned.
• Consult with experts in different areas including structural and mechanical engineers, architects, estimating analysts, building code officials, truss engineers, and IT to ensure documents are complete and accurate.

Qualified applicants have:

• Bachelor’s or associate degree, focus on construction, architecture, engineering or design is preferred
• Minimum 7+ years of managing permit submissions
• Architecture or Engineering license a plus
• Comprehensive understanding of ICC code, including, but not limited to residential, commercial (multi-family), accessibility, energy conservation, mechanical and fuel-gas codes
• Exceptional attention to detail, problem analysis and problem-solving skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and an effective communicator
• High energy with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Membership to ICC or NAHB are a plus.
• Proficient in using Autocad & Bluebeam
