Total Wine & More in Bethesda, MD is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to join the Data Services team. You will bridge data engineering and analysis, building scalable data models with dbt that empower merchandising, supply chain, marketing, and e-commerce.

This role reports to the Senior Director, BI & Data Platform. You will design data models, optimize semantic layers, ensure data quality, and collaborate across data platforms to improve tooling and observability.

Competenze

• 3–6 years experience in analytics engineering, data modeling, or BI development.
• Expert-level SQL skills and strong experience with dbt, Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with version control, CI/CD pipelines, and data testing frameworks.

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data models to support self-service analytics and reporting.
• Translate business logic into clean, reusable data transformations with data engineers and analysts.
• Own semantic layers and data marts powering dashboards and KPIs.

About The Role

Total Wine & More is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to join our growing Data Services team in our Bethesda, MD office. This role will play a pivotal role in transforming raw data into trusted, actionable insights. In this role, you will bridge the gap between data engineering and data analysis, building scalable, well documented, and tested data models that empower business users across merchandising, supply chain, marketing, and e-commerce. This role reports to the Senior Director, BI & Data Platform.

You will

• Design, build, and maintain robust, modular, and scalable data models using tools like dbt to support self-service analytics and reporting.
• Partner with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate business logic into clean, reusable data transformations.
• Own and optimize semantic layers and data marts that power dashboards, KPIs, and advanced analytics.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance across multiple domains (e.g., sales, inventory, customer loyalty).
• Collaborate with data platform teams to improve data tooling, observability, and performance.
• Contribute to the documentation and data literacy efforts across the organization.

You will come with

• Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related fields required or equivalent years of experience.
• Master's Degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering). preferred or equivalent years of experience.
• 3-6 years experience in analytics engineering, data modeling, or BI development.
• Expert-level SQL skills and strong experience with dbt, Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar modern data stack tools.
• Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and data testing frameworks (e.g., dbt tests, Great Expectations).
• Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, data warehousing, and ETL/ELT best practices.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a large, matrixed organization.
• Exposure to data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI).
