Job Summary

A growing logistics and transportation organization in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager for a direct hire opportunity. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting leader who enjoys owning the full accounting function, improving processes, strengthening controls, and partnering with leadership to support accurate financial decision-making. The Senior Accounting Manager will oversee monthly close, financial reporting, cash management, accounting systems, and a small domestic and remote accounting team. This is a high-impact role with visibility across the business, direct collaboration with the CPA, and the opportunity to shape accounting workflows, including AI-supported accounting processes. Key Responsibilities

• Own both sets of books and lead the complete monthly close process, including P&Ls, balance sheets, financial reports, supporting schedules, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Manage accounting operations including AP, AR, vendor payables, invoices, expense approvals, ACH payments, wire transfers, deposits, bank transfers, and daily banking activity.
• Oversee cash management, cash-flow projections, funding levels, intercompany transactions, due-to and due-from accounts, and shared-service allocations.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, vendor cost review, contract updates, procurement oversight, inventory tracking, and financial controls.
• Build and improve accounting processes, internal controls, SOPs, accountability measures, and AI-supported accounting workflows.
• Manage and mentor a small domestic and remote accounting team while partnering with the CPA, auditors, and internal departments to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Own monthly close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and accounting operations.
• Manage cash management, AP, AR, banking transactions, vendor payments, and expense approvals.
• Lead accounting process improvements, internal controls, SOPs, and accounting system workflows.
• Supervise domestic and remote accounting staff while working directly with the CPA and internal teams.
• 6 to 10 years of relevant accounting experience preferred for this senior-level role.
• Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online.
• Experience with complex reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, AP, AR, cash management, and general ledger activity.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with professional accounting experience, or equivalent experience demonstrating comparable knowledge and abilities.
• Strong analytical, numerical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage a high volume of requests and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong leadership, communication, attention to detail, and follow-through.
• Experience with online accounting systems and financial services.
• Ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and implement effective processes.
