Senior Accountant (Manufacturing Industry)
Location:** Chicago Suburbs, Illinois (On-site)**
Employment Type:** Full-time, Exempt
Salary:** $75,000 - $95,000 (DOE)
About the Opportunity
A growing manufacturing company is seeking an experienced **Senior Accountant** to join its management team. This is a hands‑on role responsible for accounting, financial reporting, payroll, purchasing support, inventory control, and office administration.
The ideal candidate enjoys working in a small to mid‑sized business environment and is comfortable managing a wide range of accounting and administrative responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Accounting & Finance
- Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Prepare journal entries and perform month-end closing
- Process invoices and monitor customer payments
- Maintain cash flow reports and financial records
- Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and management reports
- Assist with annual audits and tax‑related documentation
- Maintain accurate accounting records using QuickBooks
Purchasing & Sales Support
- Prepare customer quotations and sales orders
- Process purchase orders and obtain internal approvals
- Coordinate with vendors regarding pricing, deliveries, and payment terms
- Support purchasing activities and vendor communications
Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Maintain inventory records and Bills of Materials (BOM)
- Update inventory information in QuickBooks
- Investigate inventory discrepancies
- Support cost accounting and inventory reporting
Human Resources & Administration
- Process payroll and assist with employee benefits administration
- Support recruiting and onboarding activities
- Coordinate with external IT vendors and office service providers
- Maintain office operations and administrative functions
- Prepare reports for corporate management as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 10+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of General Ledger, AP, AR, month-end close, and financial reporting
- Experience with QuickBooks is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Manufacturing industry experience
- Cost accounting and inventory accounting experience
- Payroll processing experience
- Purchasing or supply chain support experience
- ERP system experience
- Experience working in a small or mid‑sized company
- Japanese language skills are a plus, but not required
