Builder Bookkeep is seeking a Sr. Accountant to join our fully remote team serving builders nationwide. This role focuses on construction accounting, client-facing duties, and leadership of junior staff.

You will prepare financial statements, job costing, and WIP reporting while guiding clients and maintaining high-quality service. Ideal candidates have 5+ years of accounting, construction accounting experience, and strong QuickBooks Online skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required; CPA a strong plus.
• Minimum 5 years accounting experience, 2+ years in construction accounting preferred.
• Experience in both public accounting and construction companies highly valued.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities with client focus.

• Prepare monthly and year-end financials, job costing and WIP reports.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a book of 15 to 30 construction clients, ensuring all financial processes run smoothly and on time.
• Prepare and present monthly and year-end financial statements, job costing, and Work-In-Progress (WIP) reports.
• Oversee, mentor, and support bookkeeping/admin assistants to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Implement and maintain advanced controller services such as online bill pay, invoicing, KPI tracking, and monthly WIP reporting.
• Lead client meetings with confidence, translating complex accounting data into actionable insights.
• Troubleshoot and resolve client accounting challenges, often on tight timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (CPA a strong plus).
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience with at least 2 years in construction accounting preferred.
• Experience in both public accounting (CPA firm) and working directly for construction companies is highly valued.
• Skilled in QuickBooks Online (minimum 3 years).
• Strong client relationship and communication skills, able to build trust and explain financials clearly.
• Proven leadership abilities with experience managing a team.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously without sacrificing quality.
