Seabright Construction in St. George, Utah, is seeking a Construction Accounting Manager to lead daily accounting, buildertrend workflows, and QuickBooks integration for a growing residential builder.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare and track construction draw requests and progress billings.
• Maintain QuickBooks records: AP, AR, deposits, expenses, and job costing.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and loan balances monthly.
• Manage Buildertrend financial workflows: budgets, codes, PO, bills, COs.
• Align job costs between Buildertrend and QuickBooks; fix discrepancies.
• Review vendor/subcontractor invoices against POs and approvals.
• Review credit card activity and expenses for proper coding.
• Maintain license records, renewals, and filings.
• Maintain subcontractor docs: W-9s, certificates, liens.
• Prepare audit-ready records for insurance and other requests.
• Close month and provide financial statements and cash needs.
• Coordinate with PMs, executives, lenders, vendors, and CPA.

Construction Accounting Manager - Buildertrend & QuickBooks

Location: St. George, Utah

Schedule: Full-time; Hybrid Office Setup Preferred

Compensation: $75,000-$85,000 annually

About the company

We are a residential construction company building approximately 40-60 homes annually. We are looking to jump to over 100 homes in 2027 and are looking to find an accounting manager to help take us there! We are seeking an experienced construction accounting professional to manage daily accounting, construction draws, job costing, and financial administration.

This is a hands-on, hybrid role for someone who maintains accurate records, meets deadlines, and identifies discrepancies before they become larger problems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and track construction draw requests and progress billings, including supporting invoices, required documentation, and funding follow-up.
• Maintain accurate QuickBooks records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, deposits, expenses, and job cost allocations.
• Reconcile bank accounts, company credit cards, and construction loan balances monthly; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Manage Buildertrend's financial workflows, including budgets, cost codes, purchase orders, bills, approved change orders, and accounting integration.
• Keep job costs consistent between Buildertrend and QuickBooks; identify missing costs, duplicate entries, incorrect allocations, and integration errors.
• Review vendor and subcontractor invoices against purchase orders, contracts, and approvals; prepare payment batches for authorized approval.
• Review company credit card activity and employee expenses for receipts, business purpose, proper coding, and policy compliance.
• Maintain company business and contractor license records, track renewal deadlines, and coordinate required filings and approvals.
• Maintain subcontractor documentation, including W-9s, insurance certificates, licenses, and lien waivers where applicable.
• Maintain organized financial and supporting records for insurance audits, including payroll reports, subcontractor payments, certificates of insurance, contracts, and other requested documentation. Coordinate with leadership and insurance representatives to prepare audit submissions and meet deadlines.
• Complete the monthly close and provide management with financial statements, job cost reports, budget variances, outstanding receivables/payables, and upcoming cash needs.
• Coordinate with project managers, executives, lenders, vendors, and the outside CPA.
• Document procedures and improve accounting accuracy, timeliness, and accountability.

Qualifications

• At least 3-5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, including meaningful experience with a U.S. residential builder or construction company.
• Strong hands-on QuickBooks experience; specify whether your experience is with QuickBooks Online, Desktop, or both.
• Hands-on experience with Buildertrend's financial tools strongly preferred.
• Experience with construction draws, progress billing, job costing, bank and credit card reconciliations, and monthly close.
• Understanding of purchase orders, change orders, committed costs, retainage, and construction loan tracking.
• Strong Excel skills, organization, communication, and follow-through.
• Comfortable identifying errors, requesting missing documentation, and explaining financial issues to management.
• Accounting degree or QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification preferred; relevant experience will receive strong consideration.
