Job summary

Compass Group USA is seeking an experienced accounting professional to support contract compliance, budgeting, and various accounting functions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include preparing monthly P&L statements, ensuring IFRS-based policies are followed, maintaining internal controls, and coordinating with field operations and corporate finance functions. Strong Excel, SAP, and Hyperion experience are valued; mentoring of peers is encouraged.

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum three years full general ledger or contractual accounting experience.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure of tight deadlines.
  • Quick learner, self-motivated and resilient.
  • Experience with contract interpretation is a plus.
  • Proficient Excel; SAP and Hyperion/Essbase are a plus.

  • Use tools to maintain high internal control standards.
  • Balance sheet accounts reflect correct balances; reconcile monthly.
  • Analyze P&L and balance sheet for misstatements.
  • Prevent earnings management through journal entries validation.
  • Create and maintain daily closing checklists for operations.
  • Maintain accurate contact information for field internal customers.
  • Provide daily support to field operations with financial training.
  • Liaise between field operations and Accounts Payable, Treasury, Capital Assets, Payroll.
  • Drive and implement process improvements for procedures.
  • Lead the department; mentor team members.
  • Identify best practices and improve efficiencies.
  • Review contracts to interpret financial obligations.
  • Ensure compliance to contract terms including commissions and profit splits.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, payments, and reconciliations for contractual obligations.

Performs administrative and clerical duties to support contract compliance, budgeting and other accounting functions.
Responsibilities:

  • Ensure monthly profit and loss statements are an accurate reflection of the results of the period
  • Ensure accounting conforms to the Group Accounting Policies and Procedures manual based on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Use all available tools to maintain highest degree of internal control possible
  • Balance sheet accounts reflect the correct balance and are reviewed and reconciled monthly
  • Analyze profit and loss statement and balance sheet for possible misstatement/defalcation
  • Prevent earnings management through appropriate use and validation of journal entries
  • Create and maintain day by day and closing checklists for all operations
  • Maintain accurate contact information on all field internal customers
  • Provide daily support to field operations by training operators to use and understand financial information and back-office accounting systems
  • Act as a liaison between field operations and other corporate functions such as Accounts Payable, Treasury, Capital Assets and Payroll
  • Drive, create, and implement new processes and strive to identify and implement process improvements for existing procedures
  • Be a leader in the department, assist peers, and act as a mentor to new or existing Field Accounting associates
  • Identify best practices within the role and strive to improve processes and efficiencies
  • Review client and/or 3rd party contracts to identify and interpret financial obligations
  • Ensure compliance to contract terms and commitments including, commissions, volume allowances, profit splits etc.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, payments, and reconciliations for such contractual obligations

Qualifications:

  • Four-year degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum three years full general ledger or contractual accounting experience
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills
  • Ability to work under pressure of tight deadlines
  • Must be a quick learner and self-motivated, as well as resilient
  • Experience with contract interpretation is a plus
  • Proven ability to influence and manage resources
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel, SAP a plus
  • Experience with Hyperion/Essbase a plus
  • Relationship builder that is able to effectively communicate, written and verbally, with all levels of associates across the organization
