Job Summary

Compass Group has an opening for a Senior Accountant in their Mobile, AL office. This role will perform administrative and clerical duties to support contract compliance, budgeting and other accounting functions. This role offers a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities:

1. Ensure monthly profit and loss statements are an accurate reflection of the results of the period
2. Ensure accounting conforms to the Group Accounting Policies and Procedures manual based on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
3. Use all available tools to maintain the highest degree of internal control possible
4. Balance sheet accounts reflect the correct balance and are reviewed and reconciled monthly
5. Analyze profit and loss statement and balance sheet for possible misstatement/defalcation
6. Prevent earnings management through appropriate use and validation of journal entries
7. Create and maintain day by day and closing checklists for all operations
8. Maintain accurate contact information on all field internal customers
9. Provide daily support to field operations by training operators to use and understand financial information and back-office accounting systems
10. Act as a liaison between field operations and other corporate functions such as Accounts Payable, Treasury, Capital Assets and Payroll
11. Drive, create, and implement new processes and strive to identify and implement process improvements for existing procedures
12. Be a leader in the department, assist peers, and act as a mentor to new or existing Field Accounting associates
13. Identify best practices within the role and strive to improve processes and efficiencies
14. Review client and/or 3rd party contracts to identify and interpret financial obligations
15. Ensure compliance to contract terms and commitments including, commissions, volume allowances, profit splits etc.
16. Prepare monthly journal entries, payments, and reconciliations for such contractual obligations

Qualifications:

1. Four-year degree in Accounting or Finance
2. Minimum three years full general ledger or contractual accounting experience
3. Excellent customer service skills
4. Strong coaching and mentoring skills
5. Proven leadership ability
6. Ability to work under pressure of tight deadlines
7. Must be a quick learner and self-motivated, as well as resilient
8. Experience with contract interpretation is a plus
9. Proven ability to influence and manage resources
10. Proficient knowledge of Excel, SAP a plus; Experience with Hyperion/Essbase a plus
11. Relationship builder that is able to effectively communicate, written and verbally, with all levels of associates across the organization
