Position Summary:

The Sr. Accountant role is responsible for overseeing a wide range of accounting and financial operations, including general ledger maintenance, inventory reconciliation, tax preparation, and commission processing. The position plays a key role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial processes while supporting cross-functional teams across operations, logistics, and finance. This role also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, policy development, and system enhancements to support organizational growth and effectiveness.

This is a Remote/Work from Home position reporting to the Assistant Controller

What you will do:

Inventory Management

• Oversee inventory records to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
• Perform regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies between physical and system records.
• Review and maintain inventory valuation methodologies (FIFO, LIFO, weighted average, etc.).
• Prepare inventory-related journal entries and ensure proper recording of transactions.
• Analyze inventory trends, stock levels, and turnover to support operational and financial planning.
• Coordinate inventory-related activities with operations and supply chain teams.
• Develop and implement inventory control procedures to minimize loss and improve accuracy.
• Generate reports highlighting key inventory metrics for senior leadership.
• Collaborate with auditors during inventory audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  
  

Fixed Assets

• Responsible for capital asset processing in the accounting software module.
• Communicate with IT and FP&A concerning project descriptions, useful life and timing.
• Calculate and process depreciation expense.
• Maintain and reconcile capital asset accounts, CIP, and accumulated depreciation to the fixed asset rollforward.
• File property tax assessments for all applicable counties/states.
  
  

Tax Responsibilities

• Coordinate income tax worksheet preparation.
• Prepare property and sales & use tax returns.
  
  

Systems, Process, & Policy Management

• Administer Concur, Adelman, and Amex programs per company policy, including audit follow-up and feedback to managers.
• Maintain and update accounting policies and procedure manuals.
• Identify and resolve accounting/control issues and drive process efficiencies.
• Review and post inventory module batches and ensure accurate general ledger impact.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Minimum 5 years of industry accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the ability to apply them with accuracy and integrity.
• Experience with NetSuite accounting software is a plus, along with a solid understanding of ERP systems and related technologies.
• Advanced Excel skills for financial analysis and modeling.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills, self-directed and able to handle multiple priorities with demanding timeframes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a high-quality results-driven, team-oriented environment.
• Demonstrated ability to use discretion, make sound decisions, and maintain confidentiality.
• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours across US time zones.
• Proficient in MS Office, modern communication tools for virtual teams (i.e., MS Teams)

Compensation:
