Job summary

Shamin Hotels in Richmond, VA is seeking a Tax Accountant to join our Accounting - Finance team at Corporate Headquarters on-site. You will support full-cycle accounting tasks, including journal entries, month-end close, and general ledger maintenance, with a focus on tax filings for multiple properties.

The ideal candidate has a four-year degree in Accounting or related field, strong financial knowledge, and proficient MS Office and G-Suite skills.

Qualifications

• Four-year undergraduate degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Audit, Economics, or Business Administration or equivalent work experience.
• Strong financial knowledge required.
• Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and possess basic mathematical skills.
• Reading, Writing, Basic Math.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain full-cycle accounting tasks, including journal entries, month-end close processes, and general ledger maintenance.
• Oversee all rental properties leases/billings/collections/rent rolls and related financials.
• Provide accounting support for property management and property accounts receivable.
• Assist with business licenses, personal property tax filings.
• Make mortgage payments for all the hotels and reconcile monthly mortgage related g/l accounts such as the FFE reserve, tax escrow, and insurance escrow.
• Collect and submit necessary supporting documents to banks for disbursement of funds in FFE reserve.
• On quarterly basis, accrue costs paid by “Shamin Renovations” for each hotel, in respective hotel fixed asset accounts.
• Aid with bank account reconciliations
• Aid in fixed asset accounting
• Identify opportunities for process improvement in accounting tasks; work with Controller to implement these improvements
• Ad-hoc reporting as requested
