Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Senior Accountant to own the month-end and year-end close processes, oversee journal entries, and execute detailed balance sheet reconciliations. You will deliver timely, accurate financial statements and support audits and internal controls within a fast-paced environment.

The role requires 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, strong US GAAP knowledge, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-finance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and full-cycle accounting required.
• Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas) required.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills expected.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end monthly and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
• Prepare, review, and post complex journal entries (accruals, prepaid amortization, depreciation, payroll allocations).
• Perform and review detailed balance sheet reconciliations, including cash, fixed assets, intercompany, and liabilities.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
• Research and document technical accounting matters (e.g., revenue recognition, lease accounting).
• Serve as the primary liaison for external audits, preparing workpapers and supporting documentation.
• Maintain and enhance internal controls over financial reporting, including SOX compliance initiatives.
• Conduct variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior periods; present insights to leadership.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes in partnership with Finance leadership.
• Identify and implement process improvements, leveraging automation and best practices.
• Act as a key point of contact for cross-functional financial inquiries (e.g., Sales, Operations).
