Job summary

FedEx is seeking an experienced accounting professional to support the monthly close and financial reporting at our Collierville campus. This hybrid role requires strong GAAP knowledge, analytical skills and the ability to work under moderate supervision.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, 4 years of experience, and CPA consideration. You will post journal entries, perform reconciliations, and lead process improvements while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance required.
• Four years of accounting experience for financial reporting.
• CPA certification preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Close the general ledger accurately and on a timely basis.
• Prepare and post journal entries, reconciliations, asset processing, leases, accruals, and budget variance reviews.
• Analyze major revenue and expense elements and related internal reporting.
• Ensure GL balances comply with GAAP and internal controls, with SOX testing documented.
• Lead accounting initiatives and mentor junior staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsible for complex accounting activities supporting the accurate and timely closing of the general ledger. Under moderate supervision.

Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or other related quantitative discipline is required. Related experience may offset degree requirements and related education/degree may offset experience requirements.

Four (4) years experience in accounting for financial reporting in a public accounting firm or in a large for-profit corporate environment.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for complex accounting activities supporting the accurate and timely closing of the general ledger.
• Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed asset processing, lease/contract review, accrual entries, and/or budget variance reviews.
• Research and analysis of assigned large elements of revenue and expense and the related internal reporting.
• Ensure general ledger account balances are materially correct in compliance With internal controls and GAAP and that internal control risks are tested and documented in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
• Lead accounting initiatives/ projects including: process improvement, regulatory compliance/changes and policy. Mentors less senior staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent analytical and financial analysis skills required.

Strong knowledge of GAAP standards required.

Outstanding knowledge of business software, spreadsheet applications and/or mainframe or web-based applications.

Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills.

Additional Details

This is a hybrid position located in Collierville, TN. Candidates must live within 50 miles of the campus location. Employees will be required to work at the FedEx campus location several times per week. This position may be eligible for relocation.
